Just too kmy current scoot out after doing the valves, she isn’t ticking so loud now, but when I go like 10mph she almost jerks down, llike downshifiting on a stick shift when your going to fast, weird to describe but im telling you the valves are PERFECT .003 on intake and .004 on exhaust Who knows she doesn’t have the power she used to have, maybe that old head was magical? ? I would be lucky if ive gotten 35 as top speed so far, but something is still not right I just have no clue what it is

Timing's set correctly?

Yes timing is DEAD ON, the valves are set perfect (well someone said go .004 on the intake and .005 on the exhaust) but according to brent on hos video everyone has different settings but all the timing lines up,
FYI: I took her out on a newly paved road, its completely flat and smooth, i started my garmin gps i use for geocaching (dont ask) and rolled slowly in my acceleration, i went 1/2 mile exactly, top speed was 40.1 MPH (GPS VERIFIED) Before i did any work on it she cruised around at 55-58 mph when at WOT,
Something changed but im thinking the jets are off, got to remember i tuned my jet screws when i had NO EXHAUST or backpressure for that matter, she accelerates smoothly and quietly no jerking (a rattle is that cover on the cinese stock muffler, i tried to tighten the screws and one snapped right off lol NICE!!) but the muffler is doing its job of that i have no doubt of
jets screws need to be redone?
maybe need to mess with valves again (i hope not taking that bike apart is a bitch)

I think the valves are OK.
Make sure you haven't forgotten to connect a vacuum hose or anything like that.
The idle and mixture settings aren't a bad idea to adjust, but they aren't going to have enough of an influence on WOT to drop nearly 20MPH off of top end. Take a look at the plug and see if it's fouled or if it's white.

Checking the plug for color isn't about a bad spark plug, but rather the state of tune.

Well everyone i had a LOOOONG convo on the phone with an awesome member last night, he is in puerto rico (imagine if that had been a long distance call lol) we talked about everything from adjusting scoots for optimal power and performance, to the best and safest routes to take for this trip, to scooter trailers and helmet ideas, everything! I thank dean for his 7 hours lol I have alot more info now then i did last night about how a scoot works and after the convo here are a few things i am going to most likely do/look into 1. a full face helmet with a mirror/smoke visor and plenty of venting 2. avoid interstates and enjoy the ride (for the most part) 3. temp gauge for added backup safety 4. add vent holes (custom) to the cvt case as well as the vent below the seat on the scoot 5. be prepared to abandon scoot in case of catastrphic failure (not wanting to do that) 6. replace gears and sliders right away to increase top speed (cruising speed) while getting RPMS down (very important) 7. consider using a trailer (a neat thing from scoot boot) or t he like for my trip to take weight off the scoot itself 8. be prepared for alternate routes should the need arise 9. realize with gps tracking realtime, and my itinerary posted on the web i could be the victim of snipers or assasins. 10. NEVER live next to an airport runway 11. Never move to puerto rico unless i buy all my computers, and car batterys before i leave. 12. realized that living in another part of the country can be MUCH cheaper for a scoot lover 13. therei s a reason why its CHINESE made theres more but thats all for now, im off to adjust the valves and the jets on the scoot, last night i got 40.1 mph out of here in a half mile run, she still has more to go i think ok everyone have a good day Read more: scootdawg.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=general&thread=42357&page=5#ixzz1VU058JT6

1. a full face helmet with a mirror/smoke visor and plenty of venting Good call. I have a cheap FF and a pretty good FF. The better one works very well to keep me cool on hot days with the venting, though I do tend to leave the visor cracked open. I use a dark smoke shield and that helps even more to keep you cool... and it looks sweet IMO. 4. add vent holes (custom) to the cvt case as well as the vent below the seat on the scoot A must for any scoot getting much use IMO. 49ccscoot.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=transtech&action=display&thread=3605. be prepared to abandon scoot in case of catastrphic failure (not wanting to do that) Not sure I condone the use of ejector seats. 7. consider using a trailer (a neat thing from scoot boot) or t he like for my trip to take weight off the scoot itself Looks like it would be nice. Says it can be locked with a padlock, so I'd definitely do that. Since the assembly only weighs 35lbs, I'd try to make sure it was secured to the scoot itself somehow. Not that you can't remove most luggage racks with just a 10-12mm socket, but at least it wouldn't be a quick unhook. 8. be prepared for alternate routes should the need arise Shouldn't be a big deal using a GPS. 9. realize with gps tracking realtime, and my itinerary posted on the web i could be the victim of snipers or assasins. Those damn Honda, Yamaha, and Suzuki execs will stop at no cost to assure a Chinese scoot doesn't make it cross country. Checking the plug for color isn't about a bad spark plug, but rather the state of tune. right isnt white means its running to lean right? Yeah.

so what do you think about the scoots current performance issues?
ill check plug
I have seen people suggest .004 for valve top, and .005 for bottom
the jet probably needs to be crewed with
Ill turn it till its closed and go out from there

I don't think you'll see any difference moving up 0.001" on each side. Won't hurt, unless the valve tap gets too loud again. The only time I remember looser clearances being necessary was when Goosey used an aftermarket cam. Shouldn't be an issue for you. If it's a main jet issue, you can't adjust it. It would have to be replaced or drilled out. Good info on carb circuits... hondanighthawks.net/carb14.htm

That was just the easiest way. Did that once, no more. I like the vents around the clutch for my 2Ts. The clutch the biggest heat source. For the GY6, it shouldn't need any support right in front of the clutch bell like mine, so I'd prob do the big hole as you see in one pic there.
