PLEASE READ BEFORE GOING AHEAD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This thread has taken on many different facets of the scoot world, there is info in here about the trip (of course) repair info, tool ideas, and all sorts of stuff, but to avoid ANY confusion or holes in the story read the below text FIRST and it will all be clear![/b][/size]
****************************************************
1. I currently own a United motors Powermaxx 150 GP1 that has 1356 ORIGINAL MILES on it, did some tweaking and repairs but going to sell it (You can see photos of the UM Scoot here)
www.dropbox.com/gallery/35382354/1/Scoot?h=86c6be
2. the trip to florida was a bet between me and a close friend, the deal was if i could make it to the keys (where i already have a villa on the water) i would get a check for the new scooter price (stay with me) i have to make it to Key West with NO interference from the outside, i am allowed to break down, and get parts sent in to me or buy parts, but im not allowed to be towed or anything like that, if i take the scoot and ditch and get on a plane i also lose. If i lose i have to do something i REALLY DO NOT want to do with his wife (its not sexual so get that out of the head now)
3. I am a photographer and as dean can tell you i have already done many road trips in my life, and with his help and all the great advice i am confident that i will succeed.
4. SO EVERYONE IS CLEAR, i ordered a 2011 Roketa Aruba brand new for this trip, the only modifications i plan on doing to the new scooter is to add a temp gauge , mod the cvt cover (see 49ccscoot forum for those cool ideas) and do what i need to to run at a faster speed at lower RPM, right now im being told it is something to do with sliders /and or gears and/or variators lol
5. Since i didnt want to weigh down scoot too much i ordered a special trailer from Scoot Bootwww.scootboot.com/index.html, check them out if you can they are so neat. Dean your awesome to suggest it, but no i wont be hauling beer!
6. I have plotted (with deans tireless efforts) an 8 day trip down the coast of the usa, avoiding highways and huge metro areas when possible, i will be staying at some fine hotels in the following citys, providence, atlantic city, virginia beach, myrtle beach, daytona beach, miami beach, lol lots of beaches i guess.
7. due to the support and interest in my trip i will be building a website for this trip, which will be updated with photos videos blogs breakdown reports (if any) and of course i will be offering everyone the chance to follow me in realtime with the help of a service by www.accutracking.com, this service is already operating and being tested, feel free to test it at the following link
www.accutracking.com/websticker.php?id=d2d1204351470698c279a218adb95e79
you can also download the KML file for google earth and refresh it in realtime, i will be working on integrating the data with the site once it starts construction
ge.accutracking.com/v1/ge-netlinklatest.php?id=60e67167f635c9a3a2fa840212ac3dd4
INSTRUCTIONS: save it to your local disk on your PC. Then open Google Earth, click "My Places" folder, then click menu "Add" > "Network Link" and in the "Link" field, browse to the file your just saved. The new link should appear under ""My Places" folder. Right click it and select "Refresh".
8. i have begun amassing a collection of tools and things to bring on my trip, i will document them for the hope people in the future may use these ideas. Also on my website i plan on creating a place called "scoot haven" this will be a page where people here or on other forums can give me their contact details if they are along my trip, if they feel comfortable being a "haven" for me and scoot along the way. This could include camping in their yard, having me get help with some repairs, or bringing me a gallon of gas, which ill pay for! (this will be pending based n if it is to be "allowed" in the bet, ill let you know!) To see if you are on my trip route or near it visit the following link
www.realityoneradio.com//ztek/KW/OFFICIAL_files/OFFICIAL.htm
9. the "rules" of the bet stipulate "clothes on back" scenario, while that leaves a few areas open, i would also appreciate if people would contribute what i "should bring" on my trip, i know there are obvious things like clothes and a tent or whatever, but im interested to hear what people want to contribute.
10. this trip will be incredible and i would not have been able to do any of this without the dedication and combined advice warnings and knowledge of the people here on this and other forums. I thank you and hope you will follow on my journey. if anyone would like i have created a special collaboration worksheet online for everyone to view. I plan on adding this post to the FIRST post in this thread if i can, so it clears everything up. You can visit the worksheet at this location

Catchy title but the overall idea is even crazier, i have just been BET thats right a bet that i cant make it from Maine to Key west florida on a scoot, the background of me so everyone knows is i own a photography company with two studios and houses, one in bethel maine, the other in Key West florida
The bet is fairly simple, no rules on what roads i have to take or even how long it can take, i can only take whats able to be carried on my scoot, so packing is key, i have to simulate a person taking their entire life with them, so a laptop, a few pairs of clothes, a tent a poncho a tool kit, a snorkel and flippers, will be interesting to see how much i can load on the scoot safely
the mileage is around 1796 miles, streets and trips estimates a ride time of 2 days 6 hours, a drive time has been set from 9:00 am to 7 pm no later or earlier on the raod, rest in the tent (no hotels) , might be able to flex that part of the bet, once i arrive in the keys if i make it all the way ill get a brand new scoot from the better, if i lose i have to do something i dont want to at all, cant get into that on this forum
so the question now is what next, my scoot is a 2006 united motors powermaxx 150, she does about 90 a gallon and has a 1.7 gallon tank, as far as cargo space she has a belly hole under seat that can hold a tool kit and a poncho and a few bungee cords, the rest would have to be added on,
should i say no way or should me and the scoot lovers on this forum take this on!
one thing is for sure my ASS was sore from going 30 miles one night on my scoot, lol imagine what it will feel like on that trip!
