Your kicker gears are un-meshed. You have to push the half-moon gear inward. Use the kick lever to get it meshed with the intermediate gear. tap them both inward with a hammer lightly to make sure they are seated.

yeah actually that pic did help unfortuantely i dont think im going to take this trip, im not qualified enough for this sort of thing, while attempting to fix that gear i managed to knock the other gear wheel (the one to the left) outo f place, now i cant get that one in iether, i know there is a pin in it and i get that in the hole but now it wont sink in, the more i hit it the more frustrated i get, i have already torn that cheap paper gasket in a few places, if i cant make a simple fix like this i dont know what i would do on the side of the road, everyone either cheer me on and give me courage or tell me to stay home so im not stuck on the side of a road, or leaving the scoot by the raod and thumbing it to the nearest airport to fly home defeated I know im sounding like a pansy but with a spring in that cog, a spring to center in the up down position and seating a gear wheel that wont seat, im just going to end up breaking more teeth on that little cog wheel (call me defeated))))

Something was wrong with the 150 that melted stuff. Whether it's the fan shroud wasn't secured properly or the engine was running too hot for other reasons. I've rode 50 miles or more at a time being hard on a 150 and had no trouble. I see no reason it should be much hotter at 300 miles than 50 miles. I'd bet my 2Ts are running hotter than the 150 in a decent state of tune. I rode one of those for something like 8hrs one day.
I will agree that a 250 would be nice on the highway. Just depends if you plan to go all highways or what. Just be careful if you opt for a 250. I know some models have had overheating issues. I'm not really up on the 250s, so I don't know exactly how common it is, but do your research first for sure. I know one is a Storm. I on;y know that cause it's a small frame 250 that looked cool to me and of course it is one I read a lot of folks having trouble with. lol
I think I'd want to call the bet off moving up to a 250. Seems like cheating. lol At any rate, 250, 150, 50... be prepared for issues to arise.

You don't even need a gasket there. Rip all the loose pieces off and leave it. It's okay.
As for thr gears, you have to use the kick lever on the shaft to get them to mesh just right. Stare at it for a little bit and it'll come to you. This shit ain't that hard dude.

lol thanks with the help of my dad holding the spring we were able to reseat the lever and the gears just right, but it WAS A PAIN dude, the problem was not that it could not be done, the problem was running out of hands to do it, lol he held the prind in place while we slotted the gear wheel, then he held the spring outward while i seated the kick start lever, its funny you would think after doing all this the kick start lever would return to its start after being kicked down (previously BEFORE i had even taken the cvt cover off today the kickstart lever on the scoot always kicked down but wouldnt go back up) oh well it kicks hard to life now, i took it for a test run, oh btw i also got the belt off and on without tools a second time during our working with gears, it would seem for THIS model at least getting the belt off does not require the variator to be removed,
You were right when i lookwed at it with the gears in place i saw it all come together,
To bad i wont have an extra set of hands on the road, then again i would hope something as simple as a kickstart lever shouldnt fail on a road trip
thanks for the support everyone

Whether it's the fan shroud wasn't secured properly or the engine was running too hot for other reasons. You mean like my scoot right now! I will be using a 150 ill set a mileage or city space between rests, im thinking right now one night in Rhode Island, One night in Virginia, and one night in Georgia (atlanta maybe) then one night in daytona, that should give scoot plenty of rest breaks, a stretch break after every refuel Should go ok

This forum software doesn't do it yet. The next version, should be coming soon, will. I don't get ad revenue other than the one banner on the main page for PFS.

Don't feel too bad about that %$!@!# kick start gear thing. I swear I jiggle the dang thing loose every time I pull the cover off. I have plastic in the way and if I angle the cover off at even a slight angle it moves the rod and messes up the spring again. If you get ahold of it with a bigger needle nose plier it can be held and maneuvered with one person. Been there, done that, more times than I can remember. Yes PITA and that little bracket holding the spring, don't even get me going on that cheap pieceo poo soft metal :censored: thingy.
And what Fox said, just rip that gasket out of there.

And what Fox said, just rip that gasket out of there. that would require me going back in there AND IM NOT unless something breaks lol, i know enough now to stay out of there unless im fishing a belt out of all the cracks lol Tomorrow im going to look at some other parts of the scoot i might have missed dissasembling it is my hope they arent near as scary
