I'm not completely clear from your reply ... were you monitoring it as it ran or did you just check before and after running? If it's 12.3V before and then 13V after, the charging system might be OK. If it's max voltage while running and revving is 13V, I think there's an issue with the stator or rectifier/regulator. Brent, IS THAT WHAT I THINK IT IS? ? Depends if you think it's an amp/receiver. lol 49ccscoot.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=igneleclight&action=display&thread=1416

I was thinking it was a inverter, i thought that looked weird on a scoot, though i imagine very doable, i saw the how to very smart guy you are,
as for the battery issue i have made a little video to show you what is happening, ill upload it in a few

It's kinda ironic really. I almost itch for a reason to open my case. It's really not that complicated behidn there, but hey...don't worry. If you're not 100% comfortable and you have no need to be behind there, then just let it be. As long as you have an idea of what's going on then that's several steps in the right direction.
I tried to watch your video but it only came up audio only. Is that the way it's supposed to be?

The battery is not ideal, below 12V. The charging system is working to some degree because voltage raised a little. Check all connections and make sure you have good engine and frame grounds first.

Check all connections and make sure you have good engine and frame grounds first. i know i seem like an idiot asking this, but are you saying my battery is not ideal for the scooter? or what Also when you say check connections WHERE do i look, do i have to take all the body panels off the scoot, since they are all zip tied on (long story) that is quite the task! You dont think it is the starter?

OK everyone im starting now, boy when you start collecting this stuff money flys out of your wallet lol Ok here is what i have form y toolkit SO FAR I saw a few things that would be handy on a trip that were not in your sticky brent, whether you add them or not is up to you! FIRST we have the JUNK out of two full toolboxes The stuff above is AMAZING ,it was originally tried to glue the air scoop (another thread) in place, i used it TWICE, then today i used it to seal a broken body panel together, the other day i used it to seal a hole in my mountain bike tire, and my friend used a little to close a tear in his leather seat in his lexus, this thing has 1000s of uses and holds FAST, it should be in anyones tool kit in my opinion. Next up is an essential pair of gloves by grease monkey, i went looking for a pair that could handle high heat and ability to pick up parts, unfortunately nothing like that exists, so i figured it would just be a few minutes letting stuff cool down at roadside then i should be able to get into it! The above needs no explanation, just like brent said, 15.00, looks like a nice set, havent opened it yet! these were an impulse buy but a good price, supposedly they are stronger then normal latex gloves, at roadside if oil had to be changed or it got greasy these would be handy to have along. What you see here is my tools after sorting them from the junk, i am going to go through them and see what i can add to my roadside kit, and what i dont need, the stuff i dont need ill give away, the stuff i need to replace or add will be done so! Next up we have a very cheap but ideal light to mount with velcro under the seat to see things at night, i got this idea from brent when i saw where he mounted his amp to, might come in handy at night when rummaging under the seat. I debated on the flashlight brent discussed as i could have bought those, i also saw a BIG light that ran on a few LEDS, but it was cumbersome, i went with this wand because its extra long life, heavy duty rubber, and it has a neat hangar that can be used to position it above you somehow, not sure on that yet. Lastly something i didnt see mentioned anywhere in the toolkit guide, this is an emergency light, it has a powerful spot for nighttime use, and also has a built in tripod with a flashing beacon that can be seen up to 1 mile away and can last 5 hours, hopefully this is never needed but it was small and CHEAP so what the heck, better then road flares and reusable. Well thats all so far everyone, lots of the stuff will have to be ordered from harbor freight, btw i couldnt find the local store for them in the phone book, are they an online retailer if so hows shipping, home depot wanted 27.99 for the smallest ball peen hammer, Hope im off to the right start, feel free to comment if i did something wrong or if im on the right track! Jay (Preparing for the trip)

Can I ask what you need ram in a toolkit for?
Also, your battery should be about 12.3V to 12.5V with the scooter off and sitting overnight. Anything under 12V and the battery is probably going bad. I definitely would not take a 11.78V-cold battery on a 1700+ mile trip In fact, my trip is only a little over 1100 miles, and even I'm taking an entire spare battery, just in case I have any issues.

No, I'm saying the battery is not at the ideal voltage. Hoping to see 12.5V with everything off. More battery checks below... Check connections at the battery. You should have a cable running from the battery to the frame to check. There will also be a cable from the engine to the frame somewhere. All of those need to be in good shape, securely connected. Since it's a starting issue, check the connection(s) on the starter as well and the relay if you can get to it (remove the seat instead of body panels if possible). Do the cranking test in the vid and check connections and then see if it still cranks the same. Could be the starter, but if the starter isn't getting enough juice it's not gonna crank over right either. EDIT : By the time I got the video in ther eeveryone posted before me. Nice additions to your tool kit. Harbor Freight does online too. Shipping charges are OK. Shipping time is a bit slow. Takes at least a week for me on every order. www.harborfreight.com/store-finder/

Good eye, lol, that was from my IT days! as for the battery are you sure it is only two months old? It tests strong when off the scooter and shows fully charged, im not sure i am going to take a spare battery, one of those can be bought prettym uch at any advance or pep boys, i mean if i keep taking things for the scoot ill have no room for me lol Im not sure whats up with the scoot, but keep in mind THIS scoot is NOT going on the trip (I hope everyone is remembering that) I am selling this one, my brand new one is on its way Sharky is on her way!

You can get everything in there other than the scoot stuff (headlight, rollers, plug, plug cap) at harbor freight or pretty much any hardware store.
