The problem with hosing off the snake in the grass is the shnauzer will roll around in that spot.

The problem with hosing off the snake in the grass is the shnauzer will roll around in that spot. I'm kinda upset that my dog smells like shit now. I should have never hosed the snake down in the yard. She is getting no kisses from me. I kicked her out of the bed.

It's a newish bike... a 2005 It's got a disc brake, an electric start and a really good oil mixing system. I have been told not to premix, this bike will do it itself. When I talk to people about this bike they tell me that I got one of the last bikes that really does it all. It's got everything. They say don't mess with it.

Status on the bike:
The engine had a lot of problems. We think it might have been underwater, possibly from one of the Texas floods we always get. We are big boring to 180ccs and changing the gear ratio to improve durability at running 50mph+ for long periods of time. The piston and stuff has all gotta go anyways... There was a lot messed up with this bike. I was there on Thursday and he had the engine all apart and was showing me... Some engine parts we can use, some we got leads on used parts and some just have to be replaced.
I told Nick that I want to cannonball run this bike from maine to LA and he said we're going need a different level of parts for that. I said make it so. I said fix it like it was your bike. Everything is on order from SIP.

180cc 2 stroke sounds hardcore. What do you think she'll be able to do top speed?

Everything is on order from SIP. This is essentially how I built my bike out as well when I decided to go BBK. Top shelf parts for high reliability. You can mess with these, you just have to commit to doing it right and it sounds as if you have. I decided against running a big carb in an effort to maintain some efficiency, but my goal was to be able to cruise at 55-60 for hours on end; not to go searching for huge power or crazy top end. I also used the term "cannonball reliability" when speccing the build. As it stands on a custom ported DR180 kit, Vespatronic, BMG Big Box pipe and re-worked 20/20, She'll do a bit north of 70 pinned and get 60mpgs. Plenty fast enough on 3.50-10's. I did not change from the stock EFL PX200 gearing that the mid 80's PXs came with. Also, I still use the autolube. It's a brainlessly reliable setup on these bikes, and unless you go build crazy will work great. The PXs were truly some of the greats. It's the one bike I won't sell. Matt

Matt I'm still learning, but here is what we ended up buying, for now... All this stuff is from SIP Cylinder Kit DR 177 3-port Crankshaft Jasil Race PX Bearings - PX ALL Seals - PX ROLF / Corteco Gasket Set - PX With Orings Stella Transmission USED - COMPLETE - Xmas, axle, gears, kickstart Pinion and shaft Cosa Clutch Cog 22t Cruciform PX CIF Kickstart Buffers PX I already have a SIP ROAD 2.0. But once it's back running, and I've ridden it for a WHILE, i'll take it apart and see what I can do.

But once it's back running, and I've ridden it for a WHILE, i'll take it apart and see what I can do. That's all good stuff. Jasil is a good OE replacement option. Is he doing any porting on the DR kit? It's a solid and long established reliable touring kit, but there's quite a bit locked into that cylinder in its stock form. He doesn't need to go crazy with it as it won't need it, but it should be cleaned up some. SIP road is solid as far as performance goes on a stock box style pipe and will work just fine. BMGs are probably the best, or up there anyway, but are not sold by SIP so they're a little harder to come buy and unless your SIP pipe rots out, it's nothing to worry about. I would consider some upgraded shocks too if you haven't already considered. The added speed will really tax the stock units. It's not a huge deal though, these can be easily added later. Not a large job at all and SIP ships quick. Overall, I think this will net you an extremely enjoyable bike. While you can go absolutely nuts with a PX, I find them to be most enjoyable as a more mild and reliable daily. They're super comfy and fun to just ride. I mean, we're still talking about a 70mph (or close to it) bike here, but you can literally lose your mind and all financial well being on these shiftys if you want. Matt

Totally understand the sky is the limit... Have you seen my ruck? 😀
When this bike is operational, and I learn more about it, I'll tinker. I always do. Just didn't want to start with all the issues this bike had.
I don't know what Nick will do with the cylinder, although I know he knows what he's doing. Just letting him run with it.

The difference is, you throw 10 grand at a Ruck, everyone who looks at it knows. Throw 10 grand at a PX, and you're typically the only one with any idea of what's in there. Anyway, you'll love it.
