Tuesday I was able to get back to this. I pulled the Purple contra out and Purple is 85% stiffer than replaced it with a green one, stock and Green is 40% stiffer than stock. I went with the 5gram rollers. It was better but not great so I went back to the 7.2 and it was much better. Launch is good but I lost a few MPH. I need to do some runs with it. Frankly with where I ride its perfect, nice launch, good hill climbing, great throttle response. All from a basically stock scoot with a tuned CVT. Next will be the pipe and I get to start all over again.

So last week while I was off and doing scooter therapy I got this back on the rack. I had a new fuel pump I got from Finland off Fleabay that I wanted to put on. I had really trashed my old one fixing it so I wanted something solid that I could trust. The Gianelli Reverse that I had ordered from Scoottuning cam in with enough stickers to plaster over the windshield on my truck. These and the Leo Vince pipes are big in the SR50 injected world so I thought I would see if its worth it. I also had some Michelin Power Pure SC tires that I had ordered a month ago to go on. I figured with the exhaust on it was a perfect time. All went well until I was trying to figure out which way to put it on. here is a picture, see the front and rear marks? I figured that they should go if you were reading them at the top of the tire: So that's how they went on. I used the Motion pro bead breaker that Brent recommends and it worked great. My neighbor David came over and gave me a helping hand. Front and rear were both uneventful. Next was the exhaust. These are just tight scooters, between the fuel injector and air injector there just isn't much room. Fortunatly they have the long nuts so it wasn't to bad. The instructions for the exhaust were for every model but the SR50. It was simple to figure out. One of the bolts was really long and came with a spacer, I replaced it with a shorter bolt. Here is a picture with it installed, they are sharp looking pipes: The normal set up for these is White Contra stock springs and 6gr weights in a Multivar. I had 7.2gr weights, green contra and yellow springs. I took it out to see what it did. It was better but I never got over 8500 RPM. I also had a sputter in the midrange, Idle was good and WOT was great. It's not too loud either. I came back and put the Malossi spacer that I forgot to put behind the ramp plate in and kept my 4 spacers. Tried to start it and the starter would barely turn and the battery was ready 11.4 volts. I thought dead battery and charged it up. I tried with another battery and it started but wasn't right. I then went looking and discovered the extra spacers through the fixed pulley half out to far and the bend was binding. Out went 2 and all was good. The low battery threw off several ECU codes that I needed to reset. I finally got that sorted and the scoot starting. I went to 6gr on the weights and I looked for a white contra spring but they weren't for that clutch. It was better with 9000-9500Rpm but the pipe just wasn't there yet and the sputter was still there. I did some research on the sputter and found I hadn't bled the air out of the system. I squeezed the line and took it out and I still have the sputter. On a carb I would adjust the needle but no carb here. I also found that the battery was only at 11.5 volts when I turn the switch on, when it runs I get 13.5-14 volts. It may have a bad cell or just be dyeingI have a new one on order. I also have weights and a white contra spring on order. When all of the parts come in I'll give it another go, I may open the airbag up some and see if that helps the sputter. I need to pull the plug and see what it's saying before I do that. I'm off tomorrow and I'll see what's going on with it.

It may be the ticket I need to check the engine number. The CDI piggyback is what makes the larger cylinder work, it increases the duration of the fuel injection so you run richer. The price is perfect. Zino how do I get the 1/2 off?

Zino, thanks for the help, I bought it this morning and hope to see it by my next day off. I've spent the better part of the day reading the manual so I know how to pull the engine. I saw a video from Rolling Wrench where he did it in the engine but it's just too tight in there with to many hoses and wires. It will also give me a chance to really clean the engine up.

How do you like that gianelli pipe ? The build quality looks good from the pics . I am looking to go up from the next r to a yasuni r or something similar that revs higher .

Going to be very interesting how easy you find it to put together. You don't normally see people upgrade the DItech, looking forward to seeing what gains you get.

Just doing the pipe gave me much better take off though I was still tuning the CVT. I have several Next R pipes on my Moroni scoots because that's the only thing made for them. I do have a Yasuni C16 for a Piaggio but its missing its flange for the exhaust port. I fount one in Europe but haven't pulled the trigger on it. For now I'll see how the Gianelli does. While doing some surfing on the Aprilia forum I came across a thread Micah from AF1 racing did about porting the cylinder www.apriliaforum.com/forums/showthread.php?94067-Malossi-Cylinder-Modding-thread. I may take that as a next step, first I want to see what the durations are and figure out what will work for me.
