Hope all is well with every one. Found a quick flip and released another misfit scooter into the wild.
This one was a 1985 aero nb50 that I found on offerup for $50. I picked it up. Brought it home. Washed it 2x. It was that dirty. Rebuilt the carb. Swapped out the ignition switch with one I had keys to. Only the ignition switch on these bikes are actually keyed. The rest are dummy locks. Replaced the battery and modified the rear lights with a yamaha tail light mounted between the rear turnsignals and deleted the rear rack. Came out very clean I thought. To get it back to bright and shiny. I used a secret trick learned from an old used car painter to shine up paint. Ready for it? Used motor oil. Yes. That’s correct. I’ve used it in numerous situations on multiple vehicles. Take a red shop rag dip the edge in the oil catch can. And rub it into the plastics. Rub it till no oil residue is left. And it’s just a clean shiny piece. Works on weatherstripping too. Any color plastics. I’ve used this trick on my red and white Dj1 plastics with no staining are changing of colors. My whites are still white and reds are still red. Might need a second coating in 2-3 weeks but even if left outside in the sun. The plastics stay shiny and don’t fade for months.
After cleaning it up and servicing the scooter and replacing a few items. I sold it for 800$ a day later on OfferUp again. New owners first scooter. I gave him a helmet and a gas can with the scooter. And gained a new satisfied customer. His friend gave me his number to ler him know when I have another scooter to sell. Here’s some before and after pics of the one I nicknamed pigpen. Due to how dirty it was. Lol.
