Hey, everyone! I created this topic to keep track of the build and mods that are being made on my scooter.
As some (few) of you know, from the "Lobby" section, I bought and brought home my first scooter ever.
It's a 1998 Honda Giorno AF24 (In the papers it's also mentioned as "Tact" even though as far as I know they are different models.)
- Overall aesthetic condition: pretty good, except some dings on the plastics here and there and a cracked fairing.
- Overall mechanical condition: starts excellent, no bird's nest in the electrical system.
Bad points:
1. I CAN'T FIND A REPAIR MANUAL ON THE ENTIRE INTERNET - Preferably an English version. I don't know the maintenance intervals, what and when to check, viscosity of the transmission oil etc.
2. After transporting it to my house, the scooter starts and it's pretty revved since the wheel starts spinning pretty fast. I don't know what is the issue but I can guess that it's the throttle cable since the throttle grip is turning pretty hard so I think it's asking for replacement.
3. The speedometer cable is broken, needs to be replaced
4. I want to replace the brake shoes for front and rear along with the brake cables. I don't know the compatibilities between different models that might help me.
5. I don't know where to source parts (brake shoes, cables, air filter etc.) except the stealership (and not sure they can provide the parts I want)
Things that I did:
- cleaned all the mud in the harness,
- did a general check-up
- fixed the threads that were holding the headlight still,
- removed the front shocks covers and cleaned the rusty shocks - lots of dirt and grime (might need replacement in the future, but for now they look miles better)
Things to do:
- need to clean, lube and adjust the brake cables, brake shoes, air filter
- need to source the aforementioned parts
- fit an universal front fender since the standard one was cracked on all sides and will require a replacement in the future.
Future plans:
- Fit a new fork if it's possible, disc brake on the front, along with a new (for me) set of wheels from a different scooter probably. As you can see in the pictures below, the fork rake is not in a straight line with the steering stem, so I don't know if a straight fork type will fit.
- A full strip of the frame, powder coating the bits, re-assemble and turn it into a head-turning machine...as much as I can.
So...If you guys can help me with info regarding my build and technical advices, I'm all ears. Thanks in advance!
Here are some pictures of it, including the way of transporting it for about 200 miles.
