Thanks oldgeek! To be honest I like the looks of a straight pipe. I will consider your solution also!

Thanks oldgeek! To be honest I like the looks of a straight pipe. I will consider your solution also! I too like the looks of the straight pipes, but they are not practical. There is too much unsupported weight bouncing around so are prone to cracking. Your work so far is fantastic!

The project I have in my head is much more than this. This is just for this summer. Next winter I want to modify the frame and do a full aluminum bodywork. I know that I don't have the experience but it is a good way to learn.

I agree with oldgeek, remounting the U bend and muffler to under the pipe would cure your bodywork issue, allow for strong attachment AND have a unique look!!

you should check out 190mech dio build. he made his pipe and used a penton? style silencer. I too am a fan of straight pipes and 190 built a real nice one. might give you some ideas. like they said you can flip the U bend downward or to the side. you could also cap it off and go center bleed. theres a couple options to research and help you decide.

Rant ON: I am frustrated because the exhaust reached my city a week ago and the last mile courier lost the package in the deposit, claiming that the shipping address was wrong. After countless phone calls between me - courier - and seller, they told me will be delivered soon. The address was correct, as the seller confirmed. I hate it because the courier even said that they tried the delivery. Rant OFF: these days had some time for me (read me = my projects) so I did some stuff here and there. Took the center stand and finished some of the welds, cleaned some of them, and re-made the side gusset and the spring hanger.

Behold, fellow scooter riders! The 'zaust is here and mounted. Looks good imho! Will do a custom bracket to attach the exhaust to the engine case...the plate that was in the box is too basic for my taste. bcp e lost report online

You got some mad fab skills there man! Thanks man, means a lot to me. I still have a lot to learn and also some more tools to buy. I need a mini lathe and a tig / mig welder. Stick welding small pieces is pretty difficult. To be honest it took me 4 hours or so to make this bracket...most of the time was spent to weld then file the welds to blend them. Here is the final version, colored the bracket steel with motor oil...same for bolts and for the standard exhaust hanger.

If I bought a nice exhaust, would be a shame not to buy an aftermarket intake, right? What's your opinion about this intake? Stage6 MK2

Another day, another thing done. I tend to overthink things, and probably this is why building something takes me so long. I re-made the metal bushings that are in the fan cover bolt holes. One of the old ones was missing the bushing, and I said to myself I need to do both...cannot have mismatched things. Took two shouldered nuts, put them on a bolt, put the bolt in the drill, clamp the drill in the vice, took a file and use it as poor man's lathe. This is the result: much stronger and covering a larger area, making the cylinder shroud stronger. Left are made by me, right is the factory one. So many words for two small metal bits...

You have a good attention to detail. It's the small things that when you look at every day will drive you crazy.

aeroxbud indeed. I really really need to get myself a lathe. Maybe in the future.

Another day, another thing done. After repairing the cracks in the engine cooling shroud, I painted them in a metalic grey. They turned out decent for a spray can job. Still waiting for the triple tree and carburetor so I can put it on wheels. One more major thing to do. Repair some fairing cracks and then paint them.
