..........Aux ex ports should open a few degrees later than the main port to promote better flow..Diamond coated bits are the go for cutting thru the nikasil without chipping; Whoever designed my cylinder did not read that book! The AUX ports on my cylinder open a few degrees BEFORE the main EX port. I may bump the EX duration up to 190 as you suggest and be done with it.

Changed my mind. I am not going to mess with the durations at this time. If it dont run the way we want, I can always risk screwing it up later on. The plating extends into the ports, after discussing it with some others I dont think it is wise to leave the raw edge you would create cutting the ports without plating on it.
Back to waiting on the replacement crank to arrive.

What pipe are you going to run if you increase exhaust duration? PG short, will it do? From what i gather, PG Long is said to be for 90cc set ups and it revs higher than the Short. PG Short is for 72cc set ups with more midrange as opposed to the Long which perfoms better on the upper revs. Test the Short and see how that perfoms since you wont be porting the exhaust.

This is crazy about the crank. Some guy on honda spree forum had the same exact problem as you did with a malossi crank on his af motor too.... It seems malossi let a bad batch slip past the quality control department.

It seems malossi let a bad batch slip past the quality control department. This is the second Malossi part of questionable quality that I have had the bad luck to get. A few years back, I bought a OR kit for the Mina from feebay. The welds on the pulley were krap. It's hard to see in the picture, but they had to machine the high spots after they finished welding. It was slightly warped too.

I'm starting to question malossi now...

Well, I got good news and bad news today. The good news is that the vendor agrees there is a problem with the crank. The bad news is the crank is currently out of stock. They are trying to find out when they will have some more come in.
Thinking about just putting a used stock crank in, they are supposed to be strong anyway.

They don’t carry a suitable replacement they can give you credit toward or anything?
I just had the same problem waiting for gears to come in. Got them ordered within hours of being in stock and then they were out of stock, so must’ve been one of very few with a set of Stage6 gears that day. They’re quite hard to come by in 13/43 ratio.

They just got back to me and said they will have more by the end of the year. They offered me a refund, credit or said I could wait. I dont really mind waiting for a new one. That way they can check the replacement using the pulley half I sent them before they ship it to me. They have that particular malossi crank cheaper than anywhere else I have ever seen it, and it is even cheaper when you buy it during one of their many sales. I have been running one of these cranks for a couple years, no problems at all. I just got a dud on this one. This would be a good crank for your Elite, if you are looking for a stock stroke.

Many good brand cylinders like Malossi or Parmakit has it. It´s intended to reduce peak pressure and have a higher and faster gas flow of hot exhaust gases and also for pusing in the last little bit of fresh gas from Reso exhaust before the piston closes the port.... Why do some people think that engineers who designed a cylinder, designed it wrong!?

............Why do some people think that engineers who designed a cylinder, designed it wrong!? Hey Lupo, its because sometimes engineers do screw up! There are also other issues that could happen such as poor manufacturing tolerances, cost of production changes, ease of production changes, and technical problems in production. Not saying that is the issue in this case, just replying to your good question.

That´s true as well.
But In this case I think it has a reason. I also do had or know many cylinders with layout like this. E.g. Metrakit´s ProRace series, or some Conti CRY cylinders. Also Parmakit and Malossi do that.

Well The vendor of the questionable Malossi crank got another batch of cranks in. They said they are all just like the one I sent back, and said "We have been selling these for like 10 years almost now with not a single complaint so I think you should be all good once everything is tightened down." I told them I had no use for it and for them to keep just keep it. I give up, maybe it is just me.

That crank was not ok. Nowhere near. Or the other possibility is the crank you fitted that was fine, is faulty!
