There were a few posts I saw talking about that swap. Not too much involved with it and less trouble then the other route. All the dealers are closed up around here so can’t really go around measuring bikes. www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=91825

That's a good article. Seeing that WERA folks are going to 17s does mean something. Are you going to track this or keep it on the street? Spooning on some stickier tires would be the easier, cheaper solution to see what the limits are of the 16s. Check out the reviews of the BT45. Beware of the sticker shock of supermoto wheels. A tired 09+ 250 rolling chassis could be found for less than a set of Warp9 SM wheels. Def spring for tapered roller bearing replacements for the steering stem too .

This will just be a street terror. It’s not as simple as just swapping frames and not really needed. John did some great fab work to get this motor setup in this frame. It wasn’t originally a bolt in deal.
Thanks John, I’ll reach out if I need to.
Talked to the powder coating guy that did wheels for me before inquiring about ceramic coating the pipes and offered to do them for $250.

I was considering having the Peace Pipe ceramic coated at one point, but I looked around for a bit and some people think it's not a good thing for tuned pipes. They say it can change the thermal properties of the exhaust too much. I didn't research it for a long time. I found enough negative info that for me the cost and uncertainty made me decide to stick with spray paint.
EDIT : Plus, since then John has told me that the metals will thin, at least in the header, over time and become more prone to cracking. So unfortunately the powder coating may not be a permanent solution as I was initially thinking when considering it.

I wasn’t looking at it as an insulation rather a protective coating. I found some sled guys arguing both ways about the coating so I guess paint it is. 😔

Bonus! Yamaha manual petcock fits... backwards but still offers reserve function.

The fab work John did on that frame is outstanding! Absolutely!! To see it cleaned up firsthand you can really appreciate the effort he put into it. It looks factory. The pipes are equally as wonderful as the frame is.

It’s down to the bare frame and 95% stripped to bare metal. After a few hours of nonstop abuse the old Mikita was smoking and needed a break. I’ll get it coated tomorrow on my day off and try to stop by the shop and pick up some shipments. I’ve been getting a lot of comments from neighbors of what it is, maybe partially because I’m outside because I ran out of room in the garage. As soon as I mention the RD engine their eyes light up.
