The frame got coated in black metallic today, lots of polishing will be needed. It’s next to impossible to keep a wet edge painting a frame unless you have someone on the other side. Still came out good it’s just the OCD coming out. Pretty much all the parts I need to start assembly are waiting for me at the shop. I’ll get them tomorrow and start. Should be a roller in a day or two. Then build a wire harness and smoke out the garage coming soon... I think I need a matching sticker: twin cylinder, 12 port 🤷♂️

I'm loving this build! Keep going! What are you going to run for carbs? Please say Lectrons!

You do good work and crazy fast. If you saw what my garage looked like you’d see why I want to get it done. I’ve got parts everywhere!!! Plus it’s easier to focus on the job when you just put the time to it. Sorry to disappoint but just using the VM carbs.

The VM's work well,ON the RD's the intake boot is the magic like our stock airboxes are in scoots..Keep it if at all possible..

Is there a thread or can we create one on the benefit of using an airbox on 2ts? I believe the airbox should be just as important as the expansion chamber.

I think those of us who know better try to push them on the younger generation that stop by and think they know better then old wisdom.

Today we have 17” wheels, front and rear tires, electric ignition, intakes and a counter shaft seal. I’ve got a low hour fork set waiting for me in the morning. Then assembly can start. Sure is fun dumping money and restoring a 250 that a normal person wouldn’t think was worth it, I do.

Looking wonderful! Are you still going to use a GSXR600 front end??

That was the original plan with the other wheels, and before further research. There are a lot of products out there for the 250 and from what I’ve read most don’t recommend the GSXR swap unless you intend on racing. Even then it’s overkill. There are valve cartridge emulators available for cheap and also tons of spring combos. There’s more available suspension wise for this then my MT. The 17” wheels also use a larger front rotor I just need to modify the caliper slide.

Are the 17s from the newer gen 250?
I support not going to the GSXR front end. People do that on old cafe racers but no one needs dual discs on a 50hp antique and those forks are massive! I think most do it for looks not knowing they will never see the performance those components are meant to support. You’ve inspired me to get a build thread going for my CB350.

Paint turned out real nice. That red will go well with the black too. Colin together nicely and quickly.
