John is great person and took care of some machining needs I had. He took down the brake mount and turned me out some wheel spacers and I couldn’t be happier. I was on a roll today and didn’t take many pictures. So really all that is left is to paint the 3 rear panels and make a wire harness. I picked up a Ducati left hand switch, domino grips and throttle tube and kill switch. The forks are setup with racetech emulator and stock springs with an extra 10mm of preload. New pads, rotors and stainless lines at both ends. I think 95-98% of everything has been wirewheeled and painted I could probably put fuel in it and fire it up but I’ll wait. Ignition is setup at 2.0mm BTDC, spec is 1.8-2.2mm. I’ll get a light on it and see what it actually is. Here are some vanity shots.

In the time you’ve basically rebuilt an entire bike, I’ve bolted a motor in my scoot and de-winterized my girlfriend’s scoot lol.

I’m just very motivated to get it done 🏍💨 Just yesterday morning it was just a frame with the engine mounted in it. Them the mailman came with a bunch of parts so I got moving. A neighbor was walking by and saw it originally and asked how I painted the frame with the engine in...Little do they know I’ve had every little piece off and cleaned, painted or greased. Smoke show coming soon..

Well she’s on her own two feet again, wrapped in fresh paint, functional brakes front and rear, pipes coated and mounted up. I think I’ve spent way too much time with this paint and I’m paranoid of dropping something on it. The wiring is the only thing that remains.. and my Vapor I’m waiting on. I couldn’t resist wiring up the ignition. Two kicks later she comes to life. I had to take a few dirty laps around the ‘hood. It’s disturbing how 46 year old 2T technology can give you the biggest smile. I have to keep thinking it’s only a 250.. Johns pipes are on point and hit like a brick to the face.
After filling the tank and it taking well over 4 gallons of fuel I’m glad I went the route I did and didn’t swap to the spoked wheels and “cafe” tank. I didn’t know this tank held as much as it does. I mixed up some 28:1 for the record. I kind of wish I got the 5.75” led not the 7” but too late. I’ll be adding a brace to the caliper mount. I was too excited to get mobile.

Ryan, It looks GREAT! I am so glad things went the way they did, and the timing was perfect. If you and Brent had made the trip any later than you did, this may have never happened due to COVID 19. Plus it gave you a big project during all of this mandatory down time we have. You have really done a great job so far. I can only guess at the time you put into the paint alone. Hats off to you!

It looks great! Very cool to see something with multiple 49ccScoot members' handywork involved. Looking forward to sound clips, but I hope to see it again in person because it's way better when you're close enough to breathe the smoke. Can't wait to hear what you think when you get more ride time in... maybe some GoPro footage.

I was thinking about the timing of this the other day. I wasn’t originally going to come down when we did but guess it worked out for the better. I’ll bring it down for a visit when time permits. I’ll get that video when the roads are dry. The kids are scared of its sound. Today and tomorrow I’ll tackle wiring, and double check all hardware. I’ll have to add it to my MC policy before I go any distance on it but that’s just a phone call. Might need a speedo but guess I can use my phone if the Vapor is delayed.
