We were putting through cades cove, it’s a scenic area where there’s traffic because everyone is excited to see bears. Well ‘ol smoky was ruining it for everyone. It was still a fun time. Yup, I got the T-shirt for Cades Cove. My Yamaha FJ09 was water cooled happy but the Sporty I was with didn't like going slow. After 30 minutes and 2 miles we pulled out to the side and passed folks to get through it all. All you needed was some Bean Oil and everyone would have wanted to smell your exhaust, LOL! Sorry about the piston...

Sorry about the piston... Last year I went through there on this guy and it didn’t get too hot. There was also a lot of coasting with the engine off. Surely lots to see and do in those parts.

I've had about an hour and a half of sleep in the past 40 hours, so I didn't feel much like editing... but here's a segment from the back of the TMAX a bit before and when it happened. You can see a puff of smoke, which I initially thought was just him going WOT to pass me when I looked back. Then I saw him slow down instead of speeding up. Ruh-roh.
(The video may look crappy for a few till it processes if you're seeing this right after I post.)

I’ll put together a video from my angle tomorrow. I’ve got lack of sleep also.

It looks like I was just being a jerk and leaving you and making you run it hard, but I've never rode with the Yamasaki before and I figured you could catch up easily if you chose to and I was just cruising. I was only going 40-something somewhere near the end to wait up. I think it was actually a better match with the MetRuck and the TMAX (or T2), but wish it didn't go down like this.

Must have been a lean spot in that carb..an EGT gage is a good indicator for this problem. Think those cylinders were .25mm over...Glad to see it still going!!

While this bike is fun on the flats it really struggles on hills. It’s not the most powerful vehicle but it makes me happy. This is an unsettling sight but the good thing is the cylinders look to be pretty uniform and both are the same diameter, 54.35-54.38mm. After a quick home that should put me in spec for the .50 over pistons. Wooser looks to be the choice so I’ll track some down and get some parts ordered. There was plenty of grey paste in the damaged cylinder but only the outer bearing shows any signs of wear or damage. I’ll replace both outers, all seals and needed gaskets and she’ll live again. These cases are super easy to split just a bit stressful since I’ve never opened one before. I did find the flywheel retaining hardware loose and appears the flywheel may of moved so this might of been caused by timing, and me trying to catch Brent..

So glad to see you have the means, motivation and expertise to keep that bike going, and that you ride it to boot!

I ride this all the time and have put some decent mileage on it since I picked it up. Hopefully this will get me through a few seasons without any more issues.

Red makes things go faster, right? Guess this will keep me busy later. I also picked up some vForce reeds awhile back so this gives me a reason to open up the pockets to fit them.

How about some power bands and a squirt for it?
