Whelp that’s no good... Ouch! Did it happen while ripping? Looks like solid internal splice time

Last time out it was making a metal on metal clank on bumps. Looked over the suspension and didn’t see anything loose. Pulled it out today to run to the bike shop and get some fork oil and saw this airing up the tires. I’ll have to see if I can pull it out far enough to get a slug in there to weld it up. If not I’ll have to cut it out further down just get something in there. It might be a good time to pull the tank and panels to see if any more are starting. Guess the 2 stroke power is too much, lol..

Great job Ryan!Thats an aircraft grade repair that should hold well..Those down tubes were added on as the stock Ninja engine was a structural part and no downtubes needed..I'm sure 4130 steel tube was used for the down tubes and mild steel tubing was spliced in for the cradle at the front bends and to the rear attach..Will go back and look at the build photos and see if thats correct..

Guess who made it to Tennessee… Adding some extra smoke to the Smoky mountains

That can happen from a hard crash in the past. The add on brace is a good flex stopper and your repair looks good. Might as well be sure the steering grease is good and if tapered rollers exist to fit. Spray cans time: cleaner, primer, paint twice, beer.

Well that repair held up to what the Tennessee roads could throw at it. I logged quite a few miles there and gave it a once over when I got back. I did have a main fuse blow while out there but I think it may of been weak from vibration. The new one held just fine. We were putting through cades cove, it’s a scenic area where there’s traffic because everyone is excited to see bears. Well ‘ol smoky was ruining it for everyone. It was still a fun time.

Someone didn’t have a good time in Tennessee 😕 I was wringing its neck for several minutes climbing the Foot Hills Parkway and this was the result. With the option to wait for a rescue or limp the 12 miles back on the remaining cylinder I chose the later. At least I still had the MetRuck to enjoy the time with. I’ll open it up further, measure and see where to go with it.
