Hi everyone, it has been a busy couple a days i must say, The old scoot was sold see the link below for that info msj.4321fun.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&layout=blog&id=42&Itemid=171and the new scoot has arrived, she is wonderful, i know lots of people knocked this brand, she is very zippy it cant even compare to the old scoot let me tell you that. I have already started her break in and she has like 30 miles on her. i have been riding at high speeds, a little bit of WOT, half throttle, and lots of low speed stop and go to give her a chance to get nice and in the groove. Today i had to stop riding and start the long PDI process, this was an eye opener to me and it is amazing the things that are hidden when we start to poke around, but all in all not a bad scoot build, tomorrow will pick up the second half of this extensive pdi Special thanks goes out to "the big guy" who wrote an amazing PDI page at this link x1scooters.com/pdi.htmlOnly questions i have now are very basic but unfortunately also debated hotly, there is a piece that goes over my cvt at the front, it looks almost like a filter, it has a snorkel and its got a little screen on the end. Is this a protector i should keep or is this a "belt killer" i should toss, like some say. also the spark plug in this scoot is a torch, i think im going to replace that with an NGK enjoy the photos everyone, they are sort of new scoot photos and working progress photos combined. Jay PDI SUPPLIESSHINY AND NEWSHINY AND NEWSHINY AND NEWNAKED .... 3 hours laterYARD SALE ANYONE?LONG DAY . Halfway done, back at it tomorrow

I like all the airflow I can get into my CVTs. I'd definitely ditch the Torch plug.

The only thing that snorkel filters is the belt dust and heat held inside the CVT. I ditched mine.

Day 2 of the PDI was long and tenous, it was filled with adding silicon to EVERY electrical connector, tightening losoe connectors, adding locktite to EVERY SCREW every BOLT on the scoot, checking EVERY BOLT AND SCREW for tightness and torque, applying silicon to EVERY speedn ut and pressing them back in with pliers, changing out ALL FUEL LINES and VACCUM LINES with brand new USA line, changing out the filter with a new replaceable cartridge fuel filter, changing out the oil, and the gear oil completely, putting the battery back in and hooking it up along with a new blade fuse to replace the crappy glass tube one. At the end it looked like all had gone well UNTIL the part where it tells you to do the idle and the fuel jet setting, i should have not touched this as the scoot idled fine when i got it, but i wanted to be complete so i did, now at the end of day two she will idle for a few minutes then speed up all of a sudden then slow down and almost choke out, then run smooth again, I lost daylight at this point and we have rain coming tomorrow, so i gathered up all her pieces and put them under the tarp, i did so much to that scoot today it will be near impossible to figure out what happened sigh the wonders of the scoot world, here are pics from today enjoy! FIRST EVERY CONNECTOR GOT SILICONNEXT EVERY SPEEDNUT GOT PRIED APART AND CLAMPED AND DABBED IN SILICONALL CHEAP AND LOOSE ZIPTIES WERE REDONE/ADDEDTHE CHEAP GLASS FUSE WAS CUT AND REPLACEDTHEN ALL BOLTS WERE CHECKED AND LOCKTITE WAS ADDEDDURING THIS TIME I SPOTTED CHEAP CHINESE WORKMANSHIPTHEN IT WAS TIME TO CHANGE OUT THE FUEL/VAC LINESOF COURSE UNLIKE MY OLD SCOOT THE GAS CAME FLYING OUT OF THE TANK SO I HAD TO IMPROVISEBACK TO THE FUEL LINESTHEN CAME THE NEW FUEL FILTERTIME TO GET RID OF THE CHINESE SPARK PLUG (The harley shop i get my plugs from had never even seen this plug before, they said it BARELY qualified as a real spark plug!)After this i didnt take any more photos, i dumped the fluids redid the fluids and then started to tune the carb, as you know that was unsuccessful, it was a long day and a complete PDI is very detailed, i hope once it runs again that it will give me years of hassle free service (or at least get me to florida lol)

day 3 of the pdi but the rain stopped it short, i noticed that adjusting the idle and fuel/air can be deceiving when she is on her center stand, so the problem I THOUGHT i had wasnt so bad once i put her on the ground (even when i applied the brake i noticed the difference) I took her for a short spin to test her out, then brought her back and took the air filter and seat brackets off to tighten up the throttle, i then started to put her back together and WHAT A PUZZLE I got her trunk casing and seat well in before i realized i needed to put the sides on first, i went to put the side fins on and notice that at the bottom by where the seat tapers BOTH fins had cracked holders for the screws (nice chinese handiwork no doubt) I will more then likely take the screws out and run sheetrock screws in carefully, but the rain has come and its all on hold for now Ill update when she is completely reassembled FYI im still looking for havens if you havent signed up already msj.4321fun.com/index.php?option=com_chronocontact&Itemid=114

If that is a glass fuel filter with the metal screw on ends and the replaceable filter inserts, i would suggest a different filter. Like the ones from autozone, Ive had bad luck with those and know others that have as well. The ends strip easy on the ones ive seen.. Not to mention it is made of glass in the middle. At the very least make sure it is not going to be tapping or vibrating against anything. Maybe that one is a better kind and quality.?. Just looking out...

OK so here is day 3 update The PDI is complete and there will be photos below, but lets get to some things on the scoot , first off the scoot is running fine, it does idele hard and will pull a little by itself if i am just sitting on it, but after i rev it a few times it settles down, the canister is BACK ON and its running fine. I took a friend for a ride to test it out and we reached a top speed of 51 mph with botho f us on it. Im sure 60 with just me is going to be no issue. either i hooked the lines up wrong or something but once the canister was back on she ran smoothly again. I have no issue taking it off but right now leaving it on doesnt hurt it either. I will call the repair shop tomorrow to cancel my work order since she seems to run fine ( i might still take it in for a checkup for the carb adjustment) I am on the fence about that. As i reassembled the scoot i saw firsthand how cheap the chinese are and now understand why my old scoot had so many cracked and missing panels. I counted no less then 14 broken screw mounts, cracked pieces, separated plastics, thank god for the cool people here on telling me how to plastic weld, i spent some time doing welds and fixing chinese sloppiness but was utterly disgusted with all the cracks and breaks on a brand new scooter. Once the scoot was reassembled and i got her running again the story ends for now. Next she will get hoca gears and some sliders that should bump up top speed to 65 or so (not sustained but top speed max speed ) thanks lefty for the info on that part. I will now show everyone day 3s pics, some pretty neat stuff in here, enjoy NOTHING LIKE COMBATTING CHEAP CHINO WITH HEAVY DUTY PLASTIC WELDINGWHATS LEFT OF AN OLD CORDLESS PHONE (ANY PLASTIC WILL DO FOR WELDING MATERIAL)MY HANDY DANDY WELDER (SOLDERING IRON LOL)MORE MODIFICATIONS TO COMBAT CHINESE BREAKAGESTARTING TO LOOK LIKE A SCOOT AGAINMODDING THE AIR FILTER FOR THE CVT (FIRST TAKE IT APART)FIRST WE WILL GET RID OF THE AIR BLOCKING YELLOW SPONGETO GET GOOD AIRFLOW WHILE KEEPING CVT CLEAN I USED PET SCREEN FROM A WINDOW, AIR FLOW IS REAL GOOD!thats all for those of you curious the blinker noise came from the actual relay, i found the hole at the bottom of the canister, i used the yellow sponge i took off the cvt filter with some duct tape to quiet it down, you can still hear it but not nearly as annoying

not really PDI related but i put the first tank of gas in "big red" today, the gas gauge is disgustingly slow it took over 5 minutes for it to reach full after i filled up
that problem will go away once i get the speedometer replaced though!
She is going into the shop on monday morning at 8 am to get a tune on the carb and jets
