Hello Everyone
Yesterday was fraught with peril, the sponsor package from www.partsforscooters.com was a day late and did not arrive, i tracked the reason down to the post office letting the box SIT in florida a day before moving it along (no wonder why the post office is hurting and are losing all the business) But the www.scrappydogscooters.com package DID come in. It was kind of exciting going through all those parts. They even include an awesome t shirt (see photo in this post) the gallery in this post is last nights progress and todays so far (what little there was)
www.dropbox.com/gallery/35382354/1/oct1314?h=c8fc51
I want to review a few things in this post
www.scrappydogscooters.com REVIEWS (preliminary)
www.scrappydogscooters.com Locking gas cap ($14.95)
Pros
Very solid construction
nice set of two keys with molded plastic
weatherproof grommet to protect lock from exposure
solid steel framework with steel locking levers
Cons
IT DOES NOT FIT the baja SC150, seriously its an awesome part, it just wont fit the tank on my scooter.
CONCLUSION
If you order one of these from scrappy or anywhere call neil or shelly at 702-689-6035 and ask them to measure one of the caps in the warehouse to the measurements of your cap opening, they are super helpful and want you to get the right part evwery time so give it a shot but make sure it fits before it ships!
www.scrappydogscooters.com Oil catch can ($29.95) and PCV valve($9.95)
Pros
Solid metal can with nice paint finish
super solid constructed hose for oil flow
Dipstick valve for catch can return is solid metal not cheap plastic
all the hose clamp hardware you need
PCV valve is made in the USA!!!!!
very neat product
Cons
Hose is incredibly hard to cut or manipulate when positioning it in scooter
catch can bolts can weaken when twisting and moving it around a lot
dipstick catch can valve has two tiny holes in the bottom ( a little drill fixed that up)
no instructions
CONCLUSION
This catch can and valve is solid and well thought out, i loved how the packaging had chinese lettering on it and said TOP SECRET, i felt like i was sneaking in my garage the night before the big race and putting in a mod that would guarantee me the win and the gurl. lol. Setting it up takes a few minutes and some planning, once you find out where you want to put this thing its a matter of cutting the hose (plenty comes with it) and setting the clamps in place. I would recommend this mod to anyone looking to make sure the oil stays where it belongs!
www.scrappydogscooters.com digital speedometer ($89.95)
Pros
This thing is slick with the blue back lighting
fits exact to factory harness and mountings
intuitive readout on screen
nice plastic finish
Cons
As with most things this may SEEM like its plug and play but it is not, you will need to take EVERY pin out of the harness and figure out which ones work for your bike
there is a oil light on the speedo dash but the wire goes to nothing on the bike (this could be modded i hope)
the buttons that change the kmh/mph and time settings have to be pushed super hard with a pair of pliers
unless you know which wires do what you will probably find that when you turn it off you lose your settings and time (for me it was the black-red striped wire on the speedo going to the red wire on my harness to activate the memory on it)
if you DID NOT have a tachometer on your factory speedo you are in for a nightmare, i will post back here when we get mine fixed, right now we have not located how to activate the tach function, ill let everyone know here once we do figure it out!
Conclusion
this mod is not for the faint of heart, but if your willing to put the time in its a great upgrade to your bikes features, i would easily say do this if you feel comfortable using a meter and messing with wires and harnesses, its not plug and play (at least not for my bike) so be careful.
The preceding paragraphs in bold and italics were reviews of actual products available at www.scrappydogscooters.com , these reviews are preliminary and may or may not apply to your particular situation or bike setup. As always check with the people you order from before placing any parts order. With the exception of the initial sponsorship the company being reviewed did not influence or control the reviews above.
Now on to today
www.partsforscooters.com sponsor pack arrived today, they included a cool hat and some neat stuff.
I set to the task of changing the taillight to LED (much brighter now) and also redoing the blinker bulbs with red in the clear lens (highly visible)
as well as hooking up the petcock for the reserve tank
www.partsforscooters.com reviews (preliminary)
12V LED brake light ($5.99)
www.partsforscooters.com/138-54_12V-12LED-Brake-Light
Pros
Super bright and easy to install
solid construction
Cons
NONE
Conclusion
with 12 bright led elements you want this light! it will allow you to be seen over 40% better in all conditions even daylight. The brake lights up quick and stay bright. Good safety upgrade for your scooter
www.partsforscooters.com red turn signal bulbs ($2.49)
www.partsforscooters.com/100-143_Turn_signal_bulb12v_10w
Pros
good construction
brighter then factory amber bulbs
easy to install
cons
NONE
CONCLUSION
good bulb put them in your clear blinkers and be seen when turning
www.partsforscooters.com atv petcock ($13.49)
www.partsforscooters.com/150-24
pros
solid and durable
easy to use
metal rotation knob is easy to turn once freed from factory setting
easy to read lettering on metal
solid rubber gasket
cons
tiny fuel filer is very fragile and bendable
this may not work for all applications (i modded mine to work by pulling the fuel filter off and gluing a hose in the hole from my reserve tank)
Conclusion
Good petcock will take a bit of manipulation for anything but its intended use (mounting inside bottom of fuel tank) but this product has many uses, if you think outside of the box)

I have stopped work on the bike until dean (my secret weapon) can do some more research on the tach issue, as well as i am unable to free up the clutch or variator for changing of the weights and gears.
stay tuned for a special announcement later today concerning the trip!
