the tear down and rebuild takes just a couple hours. I do like to give a full 24 hours for the sealants to cure I use copper spray on gasket surfaces and permatex on the exhaust gasket. Air Leaks are so deadly that I wait . Some wait a hour or so some over night .
When she is back together check for exhaust leaks by taking a gloved hand and wet rag and plug the exhaust if it kills quick you are good if it keeps running you have a leak.
You can check for other leaks by either using starter fluid a unlit propane torch when the bike is idling spray around the seams of the carb and engine if the idle changes you have a leak there .
A better way to check for leaks is use a leakdown tester and see if she will hold 6 psi for 10 minutes .
After your first warm up ride I would pull everything down while she is warm and retorque the head bolts my last build they were a quarter turn loose .
Break in Some break them in real slow and some just warm them up real good and ride em like they stole them .

What a score the way life works is funny sometimes. Was contemplating getting a rev meter and head temp gauge for the build. And my neighbor is kinda like the scrapper or picker guy that gets all these free projects and never gets any of them working. Lol he comes home with a racing go cart and it has this attached and gives it to me and even the batteries are good. So awesome temp and Rev all in one.

Yes was on a racing cart he got for free looks mint just needs a land t wet clutch? He said the fluid came out and he parked her. I love my neighbor to death and so glad we have ppl like that. But I wish he would you know spend 100 or 2 and then flip the stuff or use it or something. Something like that has to be worth a 1000 bucks once running. It looks like it has just a few hours on it. 100cc tires and frame look new. Any idea how long the batts would last on one of those gauges?

The plug Polini recommended for this kit is no longer available. I was advised to run a NGK B8HS. Not had any problems. The BR8HS is the same plug with a resistor to stop interference.

Just wanted to post quick update break down was fairly smooth definitely a few tricks that would help a guy out. I'll post more in depth later. Got it fully broke down and the kit installed at around 1am. So I just took the advice and let it cure up overnight. Assembly went super smooth and quick the jet that came with kit was an 88 when I pulled carb the bottom of the main said #93 stamp. The hole was bigger to the naked eye so I just left it in and moved my circlip from 3 to 4th position. Bolted everything up did a test fire before complete assembly. It fired almost instantly. Finished assembly added few cap fulls of oil to the gas tank and when for a babied ride. Was very nice to it as much as I wanted to TEST on er. It started to rain and that's that. Hopefully get to post more soon. I wanted to fully document but being my 1st time I wanted to have full concentration and get it finished. Anyhow so far so good I also installed the red air filter and some awesome new mirrors. So much better I can see the traffic instead of my arms. And they look 1000x better. Happy Canada Day long weekend folks. Cheers

Good to hear you got it together . A bbk is so much more fun and the polini kit has great take off and wheelie power. If your not swapping on a pipe the stock carb jetting works quite often with just a raise in the needle .
Does the vertical take the same ngk br8es plug that the horizontal polini kit does ?

No, I tried one and the thread is too long. It will hit the piston. The ES is 19mm, the HS is a short reach 12.7mm. I only ordered 5 plugs!

Not sure I'm satisfied. Kinda thought I might not be lol. What's next pipe? Definitely want a stealth pipe as stealth is wealth around here. Coppers be out to screw you. Any recommendations and prices and or links
