My first scooter and build ever I can't beleive I waited this long to get a scoot they are so much fun. Anyhow it's a 2001 Yamaha Zuma BWS'S 50. Got it 4 weeks ago from a 90 year old guy who bought it brand new and simply used it to go to his rural mailbox during week days. It has 3059 kilometers on it and from what I can tell is virtually untouched from new. So far I have only installed a polini variator and clutch springs. Today I ordered this cylinder kit. www.scootertuning.ca/en/cylinders-sport-70cc-cast-iron/14015-cylinder-kit-polini-sport-70cc.htmlI also ordered a malossi air filter and some new mirrors. I will post updates as I go along. Glad to be part of this great community here.

That is a good kit You will have plenty of wheelie power the prebugs are light and easy to make fast . Breaking 50 mph is within reach with the parts you already have . Variator and Polini BBK
Be prepared to up jet you may need to go a couple jets larger with your new kit . Sometimes all you ned to do is richen the carb needle up by lowering the clip since you will spend ore time mid throttle with the ne power .

Yes I was trying to figure out exact stock carb size I beleive it's a delloro or whatever it's called not sure how many mm stock is. Or what size the stock jet is I saw some posts that said 80? And the kit does come with a 88. I have a ton of 4 stroke Chinese atv and dirt bike experience was a dealer for 7 years before the bottom fell out of it here in Canada. And have some 2 stroke chainsaw builds and my first bike at 7 years old was a ct70 Honda really wish I kept that thing. Then at 13 I jumped to the Suzuki rm125cc 2 stroke power and never looked back until China started doing some decent things around 2004. Very happy to get aquainted with 2 strokers again. I haven't rode the wife's piaggio typhoon since. I can already get the tire up a bit under perfect conditions and yes I can tell it's crazy light in the front end. It's going to be a show stopper here in my town. Also this winter pan on doing all the plastics smooth as glass and a new updated color scheme. Have the decal packages on order now.

Also does anyone know if u can put fast throw adjustable unbreakable lever upgrades on these? I have about 20 sets left over from dealer days. There nice units but I'm not certain they will work on the rear brake side? Also if anyone those I can do them crazy cheap pretty much pay ship. On the site where I bought my kit they want 180 to 250 dollars for a lever set. Ridiculous they do exact same thing as my Chinese ones. Granted their probably cast better but I'm sorry that's not worth that ask.

The Prebugs in the North America are 14mm Dellorto carbs .
It is a easy swap to a 19mm or 17.5 mm carb you have the right choke and throttle cable already

Can you confirm 14mm stock jet size is 80?

Going to be a great street bike. These prebugs go well with just an exhaust. The sport kit will really make it fly.
It's funny the small difference in different markets. Over here our bikes were fitted with a 12mm Dellorto as standard. Even the later Zuma got a better carb then us! 😞

Over here as in Europe? Yes silly little differences for each silly law in each country I guess. I can't see any other reason for it. Does anyone have a link to do a bbk or at least get the rear link out? I assume it would be fastest way? Or do I need to strip all plastics down etc. It's going to be here Monday or Tues I'm excited

pitobread did a build video on a BWS. It's not the vertical Minarelli, but pretty much the same.
You have to remove a lot of the plastics off to get the engine mount out.

I strip all the plastics off on the horizontal motors so i can easily get at everything for swapping the engine. In about 15 minutes I have it stripped down to the frame .
I could do it with some of the plastics on but it is so much easier with them out of the way.

yes i find disconnecting the main bolt the engine to bike makes it allot easier to tear engine down

Thanks guy ya I figured as much already have the rear down to a 2 minute science and have been into most of the floor trims and such. It really is quick once you get to know your unit. I'm hoping I can do it in a few hours and be testing on er ( just a lil of course break in and all) the same day. Pretty confident I can pull it off in half day. Hoping so anyway. Should be here fairly early next week. Scooter tuning been lightning quick with having them just a few provinces away
