Hello fellow ped heads , I am really stoked o. This build have been planning for a while now the goal is to mate a bottom mount Piaggio style malossi hyper race with the team crank (thanks pitobread) on to one of my rexy (minarelli, top mount) frames. I am going for a slightly cleaner look than my last hyper race and not only will this be my first ever PIAGGIO engine, it is literally the second piaggio two stroke I have ever seen in Hawaii. Let alone the fact that it will be on a rexy frame while retaining some fairings and fabricating the bottom mount plus many other twist turns and hopefully revs this build....

I keep seeing these Rexy scooters pop up. What exactly are they? I saw somewhere that they are hand-built by a certain dude in Hawaii.

A rexy refers a long case minarelli engine They were made by a company called standard motor company or SMC. They were originally manufactured in Taiwan The quality on them Is far far superior to anything made in China as anybody with a sym moped would know. The style and even fairings similar to a Yamaha jog. The legends you hear are true The guy's name is George and he owned motor source His father used to own the only Yamaha dealership on the island and he used to Be a Racer as well as a seasoned Builder. Some Confusion may come From not only the fact that I haven't seen these bikes anywhere outside of Hawaii, Although it looks almost identical to A cpi makO Although the maiko it's a short case not a long. Besides the fact that I believe he was the only one to import these to America he still continues to do builds for people to this day and Works on builds with customers that he sold bikes to 20 plus years ago that are still braapin even though he no longer has his shop to sell new bikes. More confusion May come from the fact that he was somehow able to get a few motors sent over with a 45 mm stroke and milled case for a 50mm piston, t is allows them to be Registered and concealed as a 50 CC which in Hawaii gives you a lot of benefits as you don't have to have insurance and Registration is 30 bucks a year instead of who knows used to be 30 bucks for a lifetime. So anyways I hope I cleared some stuff up there's basically only 2 types of bikes out here is far as 2 strokes in that is Honda elites with DD50 blocks. And those are everywhere if you happen to see a jog or mina style shoot past you blowing smoke while your standing in Hawaii you're probably looking at A smc rexy,
Joey Wagner.

OK so a spark is of our looted me I have the white wire from the state are going to the middle connector on the Ignition coil with the red wire coming off the exciter coil going to the far left connector on the Ignition coil from what I have read the last connector on the CDI is only for a revolution or/kill switch and will kill the engine when its ground . As you can see if you can see I have a spark plug testers set up and I am turning the engine over with a drill and spark has so far eluded me anyone with knowledge of this Ignition style please chime in. I've also been curious if I can simply hook stator wires direct me to the old Ignition coil &c I often men are really therefore using the same wiring harness it and the other 3 going to the old rectifier is there difference as far as power output from a minute rally stator compared to these???

As an aside whats going on with Hawaii's scooter scene? Why is it that the Zuma and Jog are so common on the mainland but so rare on the islands? Also why are the Dio's available in Hawaii but are rare as hens teeth here on the mainland? It seems like Hawaii has a totally different scooter scene than the rest of the country.

Yeah it really I believe has to do with just importers on Hawaii I cannot say for sure but I do know that the sym made in Taiwan probably are out here in plentiful numbers along with John does because there is a business connection through Taiwanese living here I remember once my friends knew one family that could get us brand new city Sym DD fifties direct from Taiwan for $700 flat because they would get them shipped without the tax I wasn't into Mopeds at the time but I wish I was. As for jogues I can maybe shed a little light in my previous post I told you about the owner of motor source and now his father had the only Yamaha dealership on the island meaning that when that went out of business there were no more Yamaha dealerships I think George made it a mission to get more minarelli on the island he is an avid tuner from a young age, so because of either cost or some other business reason started to import and sell smc rexys and rexs (bigger 12 in wheels). His actual shop Closed its physical location a few years back The guy was so cool that instead of throwing away parts He literally would let anybody who had interests and needed any sort of part grab whatever they needed from his used inventory I still to this day have one of my favorite pipes that he gave to me originally 5 years ago Aqua Knight was just starting to get into 2 strokes which by the way C was sparked by walking into his shop the 1st time in seeing on the wall all the minirally expansion chambers he had which sparked a conversation that has led to this Obsession , He still services bikes that he sold to this day and works on all kinds of cool minirally builds all the way up to 100 CC hyper race Just check out motor source Hawaii on instagram. Now if we could please...
GET BACK TO MY BUILD?

As for your ignition issue I think the issue is in the pickup. It looks like those wires were cut, spliced and diced by Edward Sissorhands. I say ditch the old coil for a new one and start there.
Interesting about Hawaii's scooter scene though. Maybe I can buy a cheap scoot and ship it over 1😏

Anyways for anyone wondering I did solve the issue sound out through testing that the engine was not properly ground to the frame once I did that I Now have the strongest park as verified by a spark tester that I have ever personally seen so I wrote it down or walk it down the Hill with no breaks to my house last night too late to started so this morning I went hooked up the CVT we connected the wires in.... Course they didn't stop there I checked and realized I head switch doubt to of the wires and luckily didn't blow anything connected everything back the right way with the green white and red to their proper spots on the CDI Ignition and started over 1st kick

OK so I did a quick mounting of the radiator after finding out that it fit basically perfect in the back of the seat where it dipped down lower. Still have a few leaks in hose clamps needed but over all I'm stoked because yesterday I had it all set up went to plug in the water pump in nothing... Now I'm using a solar water heater circulator that I bought off of eBay for 20 bucks it is worked fine for me on my other watercooled build tried it again today and discovered that it was simply the positive connection not being properly attach so one big step forward... Of course I also seem to have taken one little step backwards because I was riding back from the gas station and I now know it was due to a kink but what happened was the water intake came disconnected at the head of the board so I stopped and ever since then I seem to have slight to not so Slate Ignition issuesSometimes it would bog for a little bit I figured it was maybe water getting into the state or plug and figured while I be screwed if it rained so I did make a rubber sleeve for over the stator pins. However after letting it dry I'm still having these issues on and off any ideas anyone I'll try to get a video soon..

You have a welding machine at your place?

yah my freind up the street …. he IS a welding machine! okay so I am typing this with both hands THANKFULY, I was getting on the moped and trying to pull of sidewalk to an empty road when the throttle cable got stuck open do to recently adjusting the brake cable putting just enough tension on it. well now I see why they have those killswitches that wrap around your wrist, needless to say I am in vesting in one after getting stuck at half throttle and no front brakes "it was a test ride" the bike bucked me off in the middle of the empty road that went behind a store. It threw my loose shoe off, lol. The only damage to the bike was the already weakest point in the exhaust bracket I made hastily, even the panels are all still perfect because I forgot to mention my friend and me fiberglassed the shit out of em and then sanded them down so they are hard as a ROCK! I did however go to the hospital yesterday because I feared my wrist was broken and after shasttering my other wrist on a skateboard about 9 months ago the lump on my wrist made me firmly believe that I had atleast fractured it. but exrays say evrrything is fine must just be a bad sprain causing swelling, along with road rash pretty bad on knee and right side which I will happily take as a warning not to be so careless and that THIS BIKE HAS SCARY POWER!
The other thing was on the way back up the hill which I decided even with my sore and possibly hurt wrist was my best option for getting some ice on it and forgoe leaving the bike to surely get stolen. thing is the light at the bottom of the hill was not working right and flashing yellow so there was a huge backup and I made the conscious decision that sitting in the traffic while my bike possibly overheated and no way I could push it anywere but my wrist could still twist the throttle just fine and the exhsaust was putting a lot of strain on the bore I am sure but I couldn't fix it until it got up the hill so ofcoarse I split lanes (oh yah haven't added plates or lights yet so I was gunna get hassled by cops mostliekly anyways so my best chance was to cut between about a fifty cars and after the light it was smooth sailing. I got home put ice on it and went to the hospital the next day because it still had a lump and was really sore but now three days later the lump is a little bit smaller and I AM ABLE TO TYPE thank you lord! I figure ut was also a great test of the engine and shock mounts and my buddies welding held up exelent, like I said he is a welding machine, and I am definitely getting one of those over the wrist kill switches , does anyone know id they have to hook up directly to ignition or how they are wired?

Brakes are so underrated. Glad it's only minor injuries to you, and the scooter.
