But a scooter they said. Cheap transport they said!🤔 Good luck. 1-stock cylinder spun a ring 2-Naraku cylinder reused bearing died and ruined pin and bore and piston 3-Stage6 new wrist pin bearing but for a 50cc and bearing cage broke. 4-Polini Corsa and a wider bearing being installed.

Ok. I’m down to reassembly. Ryan was kind enough to include a bearing in what he sent however the bearing is 17mm outside and I require a 16mm O.D. Bearing. Although I am quite tempted to install my cylinder with the former bearing I WILL NOT DO IT. I’ve ruined too many cylinders from wrist pin failure now. Two in the space of less than a year. I have a query in to Scooter Tuning about a 12x16x14 bearing from Stage6 but of course it’s Friday and I’m too late. I’ll pick up the pieces of my shattered dreams and roll it back into the garage. Bummer.

A crisp mill file will make short work of widening the piston pin spacing to 17.25mm... OOPS! Thought it was a width issue, guess I should read a bit more carefully,,,

I can see you watching for the mail truck do not forget to pay those piston pin clips some scrutiny, you need new ones every time, and they need to be seated properly $2 clips cost me 2 top ends and a lot of heartache. Geoff

I’ve never had a clip failure but I’ve been warned about it. Will any 12mm pin clip work in any 12mm pin cylinder?

12mm is the key on size . They all probably come from the same factory in Taiwan g clips is what I like to use easier to install.

Treatland (and others I’m sure) have these Polini clips available that I think are freakin awesome. My biggest struggle point during the uninstall/reinstall is the damn clips.

Could you just use inside snap rings? They’d be easy to put in and take out.

I use Wiseco CW12 (or CW10... last numbers are diameter). They have no ears. They are the biggest pain to install. I may pop one right in and then the next one will get cursed. The double ear types, like those Polini deals, have came out multiple times on cylinders in my scoots over the years. I used to think they were great because they go in so easy. Then I switched to only the single ear, kinda looks like a G, or no ears C. Mostly C. I don't think I've ever had the no ear/C type come out. If you look at the double ear and no ear types, you can see that the no ear style has more of the clip making contact within the groove than the double ear would. www.summitracing.com/parts/wis-cw12

They certainly look light enough to resist directional change at 10-15k rpm. I imagine the unsecured curl has mass and thereby inertia causing movement of the clip.

This guy had a really good explanation on the C- clips including a couple of issues that I'd never really considered. I re-watch this whenever I'm about to install piston clips. I use C-clips over G-clips whenever possible now.
