Two more puzzle pieces have arrived. A 12x16x14.8 bearing fits a KX65 Kawasaki among other 65cc bikes. I need to enlarge the area for the bearing by about .5mm to make it fit. Otherwise there is not a lot of choices for 12x16 bearings. ScooterTuning when asked about the 12x16x14 bearing said no such animal.

From Scooter Tuning:
Hello!
I am very sorry for the late reply,
I tried to find a 12x16x14mm bearing (14mm wide) for the CPI engine, but couldn't get anything from stage6,
I think the product description is about the other models of bearings they are manufacturing, for the RT95 cylinder or any other high end kits,
The only size we can get at the moment would be 12x16x13 for the CPI engine,
Cheers

That sucks. I found this www.motor-x.com it won't let me link it. Search SKU: LOI261-MX on the website. it lists all the models it fits. Perhaps searching one of those might help you.

I just received the 12x16x14.8 bearing. The piston measures 14.6 so I only have to trim a tiny bit

Just for discussion,I have fitted three or four piston bearings without much thought just popped them in the con rod and moved on no problems to date,I have a naraku piston, pin and bearing on my desk 10mm,the bearing is 12.5mm wide and the con rod is 12mm wide, loosely fitted on the desk the bearing is slack and will move freely side to side when fitted to the con rod it,s loose, when I fit the piston pin every thing tightens up and it feels solid so would only move side to side with wear and tear,I think I answered my own question? or did i Geoff

My stock bearing measures 13, piston bearing gap is 14.6. I’m hoping very much that eliminating the possibility of movement will help with longevity. A wider rod would be preferable but that won’t happen until I roach the crank. Then I’ll move up to a HPC full circle crank.

Rob,do you get that "fitted" feeling when it is put together,I think the gap or play allows for oil to get in there.

Yes it gets tight/snug when the pin and bearing and piston are in a set. Understandable about the oil penetration

fittment issues. Nothing a sharp drill bit can’t fix.
