I’m going to attempt to install a 14mm thread petcock. I’ll have one ordered later today. Hi buddy having the same problem as you. Zino sent me over from my post. I have a few thing's to try this week with mine. Be interested to see if the manual petcock works for you. I may even have the part's at my workshop to build one myself one. Will check in on your post to see how you get on 👍🏻

This stupid MoFo POS All I wanted to do was ride tonight. I had a crap evening and I wanted to go scoot around and clear my head.
No start
Since I changed the air filter it’s acted stupid. Went from a POD foam filter to a wire mesh gauze filter. Seeming no restriction difference I can detect. I also went from the vacuum petcock to the manual petcock. Note to self: remember to turn it off A-hole. I did lose some gas on the floor, possibly into the crankcase also.
Back to the subject at hand. No start. Choke, no choke, carb cleaner, two different (used) plugs, nothing. I’ve checked the spark, plug against frame and it makes little blue lightning bolts. Plug was dirty as hell though.
Saturday after son’s soccer I’m getting a new plug and trying again. This MoFo is gonna make smoke again or I’m gonna incinerate it. Either way I’ll make smoke.
Yeah it’s aggravating. I’m venting. Thanks for reading this far. 😘

Sorry if this sounds very basic, but have you tried WOT starting? Gotta be careful that the scoot doesn't take off, so back off of the throttle if it starts to fire up. If it is flooded, that will sometimes get it running and then you can clear it out. With premix is very obvious once it's running, because it will pour out smoke as it struggles to run at first. Your plugs should have came out wet if this is the case. If they came out dry, this isn't going to do anything for you. If you think it's badly flooded, then you can try cranking the engine over while the plug is out. If there's much fuel in there, you'll probably see it spitting out of the plug hole.

It was wet and black and cruddy. I pulled the plug and kicked it, I did WOT kicks, I tried another plug but it was old. Today I’m gonna get a brand new plug. I’ve had the same BR9EIX plug in for over a year now. Definitely got my $9 out of it.

Tore down this morning. Visible bubbles and air leak between cylinder and case. Guess my gasket is not gasketing anymore.

On the plus side the small end bearing is holding up. All you can do is sort out problems as they arise Rob.

I kinda thought I was done with that. Guess I need to upgrade to a better two cycle oil. I also made the mistake of using a plain 12mm Circlip in the Polini cylinder. Well guess what, that piston has no relief groove in the slot to remove the clip. Damn that was tough to get out. I guess I’m gonna have to use a clip with a “G” style.

And the damages:
New plug $12 Roll gasket material $11
Labor Two beers
The top ring was stuck so badly, I heated the piston with a propane torch and dunked it repeatedly into a cup of carb cleaner. I had to pry both rings from their grooves. So leaky base gasket, nasty plug, stuck piston rings, minor scoring and abrasions.
It’s running again. Gotta use a higher quality two cycle oil. Back to either Lucas or VP.

I can imagine that was not fun getting the circlip out. In the long run its always better to use better quality oil. She is worth it. 😉

Soooo Went for a victory lap today. It’s not coming up on revs like it was. I think I need to drop back to the smaller jet. But, the motor did quit on me at the end of a long WOT stretch. I’m gonna have to do a flow test and see WTF. I have a needle swapable bowl, I think for accuracy’s sake I’m gonna pull that bolt/cap and then open the petcock for 30 seconds.

What kind of oil were you running when the ring stuck?? You have some kind of Pod filter on there or a good 'ol stock airbox?

Mercury Ouicksilver multi use works well for a cheaper oil!!
