Quarantine killer

With winter rolling around and no end in site to quarantine I needed another project. Lucky for me a 90cc minarelli engine popped up on Craigslist ripe for the pickin'. It didn't come with a stator, reed valves or a cylinder. I got it stripped in about 2 hours or so. Mechanically its perfect and quite a bit different than the PGO motors im used to. Cosmetically shes a 20-20.


I have some exciting plans for this motor including a special pipe coming from Japan.

Nice Score! That's a short case motor from a quad. 90GTVert has a great thread about converting those for scooter use. I think you need a 10" wheel to use those.

Anybody got any tips for cleaning aluminum? I want to paint this motor silver or black. All I care is I get the grit and grime off it. I already powerwashed it.

You could try Gunk Heavy Duty Engine Degreaser. Spray it on and wait 15mins then powerwash it again. Personally I just went at my case with dawn dish soap, a stiff nylon scrub brush, & an old toothbrush.

This japanese beauty arrived today, straight from the land of the rising sun. This pipe is specifically designed for 100cc~ Jog motors like modified Jog90's and Grand Axis 90s. It is also specifically designed for lower revving cast iron cylinders. The pipes resonance should match up to aftermarket 54mm cast iron jugs really well. Im no welder but these beads *seem* ok. Id like to hear what you think. Check it.

Anybody know if the late model Yamaha jogs used a short case motor? I would think they did based on their 10" wheel.

So things with Quarantine Killer took a different turn. I had been going back and forth with a guy over a Honda Elite for parts + $500. In my area thats a screamin' deal. After some thought I decided against the Elite. With Elite parts, specifically body parts, being so rare I didn't want to get into a money pit. After some talk I ended up buying this + trading him my 90cc cases and JDM pipe. A fully Japanese Domestic Market Honda Dio 2. Its in tired shape, probably been sitting for years. I am very excited for this scoot.

It really is a true JDM scooter. There's two local guys who have them imported from a yard in Japan. Apparently the minimum importation order is a literal shipping container. They purchase a shipping container full of scooters and have them sent to the US.

Shes fresh off the boat baby.

Now its just a matter of finding out what I want to do with it. I'm not familiar with the Honda family of engines. The AF18E builds I have seen are usually centered around stroker setups. Any ideas gentlemen?

Does anybody have any experience with the Mini Stroker Honda setups? I'm thinking of building a 85cc stroker setup. I'm not sure what pipe to pair it with though. I like the Arrow pipe so I'm tempted to use that one. Suggestions?
