To anyone still following my rambling I got a little more done. I adjusted to the steeper ramps on the torque driver & installed a new top trophy belt. I took it for a short ride & I liked the way it seemed to pull but it felt like it could benefit from lighter rollers. The newer belt also isn’t riding quite as high on the rear pulley so I’m guess it could use a a shim for the variator. It did ride a little higher on the variator but top speed seemed about the same. I was able to get the new 15/50 gears in today. It rained all day so I didn’t get a ride in. I also through in 5 gram sliders. Hopefully I’ll get to take it for a spin tomorrow & play with the cvt as needed. Besides a carb where do I go from here? Not looking to drop tons of cash but I’m willing to put some more money in it for a decent return.

Is the belt the same exact length as the old one?

Next step sport variator and carb 17.5 or 19mm
And then you will get a little more Frisky and move into dont let the wife see the credit card bill land. And new parts will show up every other month It goes kinda like this You will want to get a better pipe Then you will want a race cylinder Then overrange transmission Then a race pipe Then a better ignition. Then you want to go liquid cooled .
And then you buy a another scooter

Then the scooter won’t be fast enough You’ll buy a sport bike even though you don’t have the motorcycle endorsement You’ll get caught speeding The fine will be larger than a good sport cylinder setup

Took it for a ride this afternoon & hit 51mph after the gears. On the way home however it soft seized on me or at least I think it did. I was running wide open & had been for maybe a half mile when it just turned off like it ran out of gas. Pulled over & it fired back up with the electric starter so I rode home gently. Pulled the plug & it look fine, rich if anything. I have a endoscope camera so I looked in the cylinder & everything looked fine. Compression check tonight after it’s been in the 40 degree garage was 135psi. This is a top trophy black kit, really not sure what it should be. Only thing I can think of is it is the coldest day I’ve ridden it. Running stock carb with Yamaha 84, clip raised 1 notch, 1 turn on the air screw. I need to get a temp gauge before I do anymore high speed runs.

Nice work on your top speed breaking 50 mph By my math you picked up 5 mph with gears . You might have another mile or 2 in there as you dial in the cvt . I found after Gears I ran a notch lighter sliders to get the same shift points by my tachometer and get the best top speed. A temp gauge is definetely great insurance for your hard work .

Yes that seems about right. I opted for the 12.2:1 vs 11:1 as the I’m a large guy LOL. I’m 6’4 & around 265lbs dressed so I could carry it home if I needed to. I have a trail tech temp gauge & a dellorto 17.5 on the way. I also have jets from 85-105. Any rough figure on jetting? I’ve read everything from 85 to 110. I went from 6g to 5g sliders & it felt pretty good but I didn’t get to play around with it. Looking forward to getting it dialed in.

I would start with a 90 main jet with the 17.5mm dellorto if you are going to run the stock airbox. Where did you get the ncy torque drive?

That’s what I was thinking. I got it from scooter swap shop.

The temp gauge came in today so I installed it & took it for a ride. I hit 345 pretty easy so I backed out & brought her home. Hopefully carb will be here this weekend. If not I’ll just throw a bigger main in the stock carb & see if it helps bring the temps down.

you will notice a big difference in cruising temp with a larger carb . It will feed your beast better at wide open and as you let off on deceleration.
You will also notice a difference in power on take off and a few more mph .
If you are not going for all out short blast power . And want a safe daily rider Run it rich enough so on long 5-6 mile wide open runs she just levels off below 350 Degrees . At 1/2 & 3/4 throttle she will level off a notch cooler if your needle is within range .

That’s my plan. I want to be able to run wide open for as long as I want. I’ll start with a 90 main & go from there. I’m hoping it’s a noticeable difference in performance.
