If the spark plug cap is too log on your aftermarket one its just soft plastic . I just ground it own by rubbing across cement floor . On your pilot jet are you set at 2 turns out on the air screw . That is a good baseline setting while tuning . Can you take video of you trying to turn it over . I’m not sure what I’m set at, the carb was rebuilt by a shop 6 or 7 months ago and I’m sure they set it to where it would run. I will try to adjust it. I can take a video too, probably today or tomorrow

It should be the stock carb, definitely looks like the zuma stock carb based on the air screw location (sort of in the middle at 45 degree tilt upward. I bought it this used 5 years ago or so I don’t know for sure. And yeah I might get into that if I can get it running. Getting discouraged at this point

There are two types of spark plug cap one fits the end of the plug with the nipple on the other needs you to remove the nipple and just use the bare thread, you should feel a click as you push the cap on then gently try pull it off it should stay stuck on there if you got it right

I hear it turning over just not firing the mixture you have spark and compression
Your first post you dissasembled the carburetor and put it back together . A couple posts up you are not sure what the mixture screw is set at . I cannot tell if you have the exposed mixture screw from your carburetor . If you can Set the mixture screw 2 turns out .
I am betting you have a plugged pilot jet after sitting 6 months this is a common problem Carb cleaner sometimes just doesnt get it done when they varnish shut you could boil your jets in a vinegar solution on your stove for a 45 minutes and the take a small wire and poke through the jets and blowout with compresssed air .

At the shop I work at, we have a bucket of 50/50 Original PineSol and purified water. You’ve got to have compressed air for this, or you’ll be leaving water behind in loads of nooks and crannies.
Strip it apart and make sure only metal goes in the dip.
Remove after 24hrs (really and truly don’t leave it in more than 36hrs - it’ll start in on the ferrous metals). Rinse under hot water, and blow it out with air compressor. Wear ear plugs because it gets really loud!
Reassemble as normal.

So I took the carb apart and cleaned it but I didn't touch the idle screw or the air/mixture screw because I assumed they were likely set where they needed to be. My carb has an air screw that is adjustable and I've been told two turns out is a good place to start. When I cleaned it, I sprayed out both jets with B12 chemtool and both looked free and clear. I am willing to take it apart again this weekend and have another look. Might as well try boiling them in the vinegar too while I'm at it.

Videos don't play.do have spark? Geoff They're through dropbox so you may have to sign in or something I'm not sure. Yes I have a blue spark, tested it the other night when it was dark out so I could see it better.

Also, this is definitely the same carburetor that I have. I've heard running some very fine fishing line through the jets can clean them out without damaging the brass, I may do that just for good measure.

I have had a coworker who is pretty good with small engines take a look at the scooter and he thinks I may have a weak spark. So I guess I need to look at replacing the stator as I have tried replacing the ignition coil with no apparent change in spark. Any thoughts before I head down this path?

Hey everyone, I am finally getting back to working on this scooter. So I've checked spark with a gap tester, and I am getting a good spark at the 20 and 25 setting, albeit a little amber colored. Compression was good however I will check it again since it has been so long, and I need to put fresh gas in. Fuel line is delivering gas when I suck on the vac line. I will clean the carb again as it's been sitting with old gas. But beyond fuel, compression and spark I have no idea what to check. Could it be a timing issue? There is also a hose coming out of the top of the gas tank that is not connected to anything. Is this supposed to be connected somewhere or is it a vent?
