Great job so far man you're really coming along nicely with this build. I absent absolutely love the tires it's in the color And from my own experience being able to check tire fitting off your list is a big effing deal. I have a piazzio engine as well And have some of the same CVT parts such as the stage 6 face Melosi torsion control and clutch however however I noticed your rear pool was malosia as well Is that an overranged pulley or just a melosi pulley that maybe has different angles on the grooves? I really like the Chrome on the C16 it came out very nice And I agree with you a 100% as far as electric starters and oil pumps go go keep it simple why create more possible points points of failure....🦧🏁📸

There is a bit of a story about the rear pulley half. A friend acquired the Malossi pulley half for a good price 2nd hand, and sold it to me, He insisted that i needed it on my set up as i was just using a stock piaggio rear pulley, so i bought it off him as it was a good price, not really expecting it to make a whole lot of difference. So i fitted it and went for a test ride around the block and came back grinning from ear to ear... wow what a difference. Its hard to describe the difference really, but when the engine comes onto the pipe it feels much stronger, kinda like the difference fitting a quality variator feels on the front pulley. I would recommend one on a tuned engine with a revvy pipe. I also have a full Malossi over range kit sitting in a box which i have never really used, I bought it for an engine I never got round to building, so the plan is after I have sorted the Runner out to build another engine and try the over range.

I'll have to go looking for a one then, Problem is there so expensive.... But so is everything else on my bike so I shouldn't really complain just keep on saving up and buying peace by peace...

I thought i would share some bonus archive footage of my Runner from before the 9 year sleep, that I have scattered about you tube in various places. 1st couple of videos is when i was running a Malossi MHR-rep cylinder kit on her... you can really hear the straight cut stage 6 primary gears begging for mercy www.youtube.com/watch?v=omo2vxNeXs4www.youtube.com/watch?v=fBmh-PFWqQMand this video is with the Stage 6 Racing cylinder www.youtube.com/watch?v=btZn1yDAWz8so looking over the scoot in its current state, and going by its age.. 19 years old, I am going to replace pretty much every consumable part on her. also im slowly putting the scoot back to a stock look... i must be getting old ive found the original horn cover and side vents in my stock of parts, and ive also found the original amber front indicators, For some reason i dont seem to have the original tail light assembly, so will have to hunt one down, but theres no urgency really one will turn up eventually. also ive been working on modding a std air box for good power and stock looks and more importantly to keep the noise down. also last summer I purchased some genuine piaggio/Gilera front forks which came from Italy, to replace my crusty originals. Heres a look at some of the transmission goodies on her, which ive inspected and are still in really good condition, I will of course fit a fresh drive belt before i use her. As you can see in the last pic shes devoid of the std mechanical water pump, oil pump and electric starter, im a big fan of kiss (keep it simple sucker) pre mix and kick start only for me, and theoretically theres a small increase in power not running that lot on the end of the crank. The Bosch electric water pump, which is actually std fitment on V.A.G cars, which we all fitted back in the day Beautiful bike.. Is that a yellow Malossi torsion control ring on the rear? If so, a heads up. It should be inside/against the clutch not the torque driver

Is that other engine from the project runner you got all those years ago? I'm jealous of your parts stash. 😉

Is that other engine from the project runner you got all those years ago? I'm jealous of your parts stash. 😉 you have a good memory i bought a black Runner from a forum member from Wolverhampton on scooter nations forum, I took the engine out of it and sold the rest of the Runner to another forum member. The spare engine was slotted into my current Runner and got me 2 work for a couple of weeks, while i rebuilt my original engine, and then the engines were swapped back again. The spare engine has a motorforce crank in it and a polini cast iron 70 kit, and came with a laser Xpro exhaust and a Dell 21mm carb, probably about 8 or 9hp. im planning on doing a little Rejuvenation project on that engine in the near future when ive finished this project (are they ever really finished) on top of that ive also got a spare set of cases which I have ported one side of which was going to be for project Polini Evo-2 before I got made redundant and everything came to a screeching halt and of course I have a stash box, ive probably got most of the bits to build a good strong motor....

This weekend is a long weekend off work, so when I got back from taking my car for its annual MOT test (phew it passed with no advisories) I got on with working on the Runner. This is definitely what i would call the unglamorous side of messing about with scooters, so today I tackled the bug bear of surface rust on my frame. It would be nice to strip the whole scoot down to just the frame and have it blasted and powder coated, but i decided to just do a bit of an interim d.i.y tidy up. once the bike is built back up you cant actually see the frame on a Runner anyway so i think i may just get away with this. The back end of the frame always goes crusty, as its quite exposed to rain water and road salt in the winter splashing up from underneath. where as the front of the frame is more than often o.k as its fully encased. i gave the rear of the frame a good clean up with this, i had to improvise as i have run out of general degreaser. I then washed it off with the pressure washer and dried the frame with clean rags, it seemed to work ok. Then i gave the rear of the frame a good wire brush to get rid of the loose surface rust and painted everywhere with kurust rust convertor. it kinda goes on a bit milky looking and looks terrible, but once dry it goes black. By the time all this had happened it was starting to get dark, it gets dark in the U.K around 4pm this time of the year. so i one wheeled the bike into the shed for the night, where it will cure over night. Then tomorrow im going to give it a light coating with this... I have had some good success using it on old cars, and should repel any rain water and road salt for years to come. Im not too concerned about it not being a show bike finish, as it will be hidden from view once the bike is built. The more glamorous side of messing around with old scooters has stalled for a bit, as im waiting on parts to arrive that are on back order etc... so the next couple of updates will probably be unglamorous

Definitely worth treating. It's not done too bad for its age though. It's always the bits you can't get to that get corrosion the worst.

The deeper you get into bikes of this age, the longer the list of parts you need to order gets. I made a real dogs dinner of undoing the nut on the top of my rear shocker At least the rain held off today

That is the consensus online but the Malossi fitting guide states it is to be fitted in side the clutch

Today I sprayed the frame with under seal, and hopefully I shouldnt have to worry about rust for another 19 years, or until running scooters on fossil fuels is out lawed... which ever comes first Which means I can press on with other parts of the Runner... Front panels now removed revealing more cleaning to be done at the front end. When I was removing screws and bolts to take the front panels off, i accidentaly removed the screw that holds the fuel flap latch together, and next thing its in 3 pieces and the little spring shot off. I spent 15 minutes on my hands and knees trying to find it doing a finger tip search the Police would be proud of. Then another 15 minutes trying to work out how it all goes back together... anyway I got there in the end. I unbolted the rusty pipe from my engine and hung it up in my shed with my other pipes. Left: Laser X-pro, Centre: Yasuni City-16, Right: Yasuni Carrera-16. None of my parts I am waiting on turned up today, so im going to disassemble some parts off my motor so I can give it a clean up before I mount it back in the frame. Also I dug my spare motor out to give it a look over... its filthy!! It does have a Polini cast iron 70cc kit on it though, and a moto force full circle crank...

How many miles do you think you have on the race cylinder? I think I put about 1400,1500 miles on my one before I sold the bike. Was still going strong. I actually removed it, and sold it.
