First thing this morning I lacquered my front wheel, and while I was waiting for it to dry, I gave my front brake caliper an over haul, I checked the pistons were moving freely, fitted new pads and gave it a tidy up by painting it red and mounted the caliper with some stainless steel bolts. Then when the lacquer was dry on the wheel, I bolted a brand new disc to the wheel with stainless fasteners, put some air into the tyre and seated the beed, and slotted the wheel into place on the scooter. Im still waiting for my Goodridge stainless brake hoses to arrive, so will hold off bleeding the brakes until then.

After over hauling the front brakes my attention turned to the rear brakes, and ive had a bit of a set back. I found one of the pistons in the rear caliper was seized solid, i managed to free it off eventually and popped it out to clean it up, but found a lot of corrosion inside the caliper. so ive had to order a new rear caliper. Shouldnt be a problem I thought, but for some reason there are no rear calipers in stock anywhere in the U.K, so ive had to order one from germany that may not be here until Dec 17th. I did fit two silicone reducers to the electric water pump though. The water pump connections are 20mm and the pipe work and all the connectors on the bike are 14mm. so the Scoot goes back in the shed while I wait for parts to arrive... Im so pleased with how the Lime green wheels turned out, they look quite striking in day light. The scoots only some coolant hoses and some brake pipes and rear caliper away from being a working bike...

Ive had a Stage 6 RPM/coolant temp digital meter sat in a box for a while now, and as the weather has gone very cold out side, it was snowing this morning... I was looking for a nice little job I could do inside in the warm. so i cobbled together a little bracket from bits and bobs from out my odds and ends drawer, to mount the meter to my scoot. I wanted to try and make a neat and tidy installation, and after a bit of thinking about it... I decided on just under the fly screen would look pretty neat.

So my Goodridge brake lines finally showed up from the factory, which I have been waiting to be made for 8 weeks. And my rear caliper I had to order from Germany, as there was no stock anywhere in the U.K, apparently they are even on back order from italy. so without further a do I got them fitted... I didnt need to ask my furry assistant for help bleeding the brakes today... I pressed my new vacuum brake bleeder into action instead... whilst bleeding the rear brake my master cylinder decided to fail on me, the piston goes in but doesnt return, so i have had to order a new one which all being well should be here next week. The rear brakes have fought me all the way on this scoot... first the caliper was no good now the master cylinder is no good. I also fitted my stock look rear light lenses which arrived last week... and bolted the chrome Yasuni C16 on... Thats about it for this update, some progress and a minor set back with the rear brakes.. again! ... I shall over come

It's better for the master to fail before you start riding it. That's the problem with a lot of the brake parts when they sit unused for years. Might work for a little while, then give up.

All the things that I thought would give me trouble have gone quite smoothly, and a few simple 5 minute jobs that should be easy are the things that gave me trouble

My rear master cylinder arrived which i fitted, which then enabled me to fit the handle bar cowling, fly screen and mirrors. I also wired in the stage 6 tacho/temp gauge.

Tonights project was a bit of a free exercise, cherry picking all the best parts from all 3 of my c.v.t cases I have lying around, and making one good case out of the 3. The tidiest case (bottom) and the shabiest case (top) the best kick start gear (bottom) and the most worn one (top) The gear takes a bit of a hammering when you are kick start only. replacing an old kick start bush with a new one. The best kick start gear fitted into the tidiest case with new bush and the return spring re-fitted. The best case with the best internals ready to go on the scoot

How did I miss this, give me some reading to do this evening Too busy buying more scooters I expect.😉 Not allowed to anymore aeroxbud ,Yolanda saw my antics and went into about no ambulances, hospital packed with covid cases and they don't need the worries of me and my damn scooters can stop buying them for the foreseeable future and keep the 3 I got to tinker on once I have delivered the Honda to Lavant and sold the Suzuki that's it. Even got the daughters on side as well griefing me up. No doubt they will get the grand daughters to rant at me as well. Still less achy after soak in the bath even if it was a pain getting out 🙃

I thought i would share some bonus archive footage of my Runner from before the 9 year sleep, that I have scattered about you tube in various places. 1st couple of videos is when i was running a Malossi MHR-rep cylinder kit on her... you can really hear the straight cut stage 6 primary gears begging for mercy www.youtube.com/watch?v=omo2vxNeXs4www.youtube.com/watch?v=fBmh-PFWqQMand this video is with the Stage 6 Racing cylinder www.youtube.com/watch?v=btZn1yDAWz8so looking over the scoot in its current state, and going by its age.. 19 years old, I am going to replace pretty much every consumable part on her. also im slowly putting the scoot back to a stock look... i must be getting old ive found the original horn cover and side vents in my stock of parts, and ive also found the original amber front indicators, For some reason i dont seem to have the original tail light assembly, so will have to hunt one down, but theres no urgency really one will turn up eventually. also ive been working on modding a std air box for good power and stock looks and more importantly to keep the noise down. also last summer I purchased some genuine piaggio/Gilera front forks which came from Italy, to replace my crusty originals. Heres a look at some of the transmission goodies on her, which ive inspected and are still in really good condition, I will of course fit a fresh drive belt before i use her. As you can see in the last pic shes devoid of the std mechanical water pump, oil pump and electric starter, im a big fan of kiss (keep it simple sucker) pre mix and kick start only for me, and theoretically theres a small increase in power not running that lot on the end of the crank. The Bosch electric water pump, which is actually std fitment on V.A.G cars, which we all fitted back in the day I'm the same all my scooters get changed to pre mix stright away, and I like to use eletric water pump as.well, if you can't kick it over you shouldn't be ridding it, lol nice scooter
