Interested to find out how you solved this Belt rubbing, As I have wondered also if the oil pump gear would need to be removed in an overraine set up

Well after a couple months of waiting I received my MVT CDI ! New problem however, I didn't realize the MVT mounting plate is not compatible with the Malossi cases... Just when I thought it was time for smooth sailing lol

It never seems to be smooth sailing in the aftermarket world.

Thankfully scooterswapshop.com has the adapter plate and I got it today. Installed perfectly and got the thing put together just need to set the timing. In the video I watched it suggested setting the timing at .35mm BTDC.
Still have to get somebody to press my new final drive shaft on my gears to put the rear trans together completely. But I think I'll be able to get this thing together in a week or so and start playing with carb tuning!

I am going to take some material off the inside of the case to be safe since it has to rub the way its set up. I would also assume the oil pump has to come out. The cases I have don't have a spot for the pump.

I cannot for the life of me locate the proper ignition timing for the 44mm stroke. The best info I could find is a 49ccscoot youtube video saying it should be .35mm BTDC on the longer stroke with the MVT. I just want to confirm that is correct... it seems awfully late, no?

You need a timing light to set timing correctly. The 3.5mm or 4mm or whatever mark is just a baseline so it will run and you can use the timing light. Static ignition tuning worked on 50y old mopeds with points ignition. When you are running a big boy racing engine you'll need to step up your tuning game too im afraid...

I can run a timing light on it and get it adjusted no problem - but I don't want to start off in the wrong spot is my big concern here. I guess maybe that's why they suggest 0.35mm BTDC as a starting point because its conservative? I read an old post on here where someone is suggesting timing be set at 2.25mm BTDC on the Piaggio Selettra ignitions. That seems like a big jump from 0.35mm to 2.25mm?
I set the Stage6 R/T 70cc kit at 2.45mm BTDC on my other bike and I run a dual curve HPI CDI. I can take a look at the port maps on both kits and see how they compare to use that as a baseline, or am I thinking about this wrong?

So I did what I should have done from the beginning and read the Stage6 manual that came with the kit. It suggests timing be set between 3.2mm-3.6mm BTDC. That sounds like it might be a little too advanced but I might start out at 3mm to see how its firing.

It doesnt have to matter if its too advanced from the beginning. It won't blow up idling with too much advance. Unless you can't contain yourself from riding it before it is tuned, which I highly discourage you to do. When you really (would) go overboard on the advance the motor will start running backwards which also does'nt hurt anything unless you try to ride it. Just follow the instructions, use a timing light and don't ride it untill you've got the ignition dialed in.

That makes me feel better. I've always dreaded screwing up the timing a melting a hole in my piston so I always start conservative

Youve gone down a very expensive and challenging path and for that I commend you. You went way off the deep end with this one. The higher end the engine the more sensitive and challenging to tune. I dont trust my tuning ability with anything other than cast iron two ring kits.
I dont mean this in a disparaging way but I am nervous about the case cutting. Some areas looked thin to me and I dont want to see you crack a case on such a high dollar build.

My whole plan for this thing is to showcase what is an almost non existent 95cc kit, so I agree I went of the deep end lmao but felt justified in it.
Regarding the case cutting, I agree it got thinner for sure but I'm confident it will hold up. You'd be surprised how resilient these aluminum cases are. But that was why I went with the Malossi cases because I easily cracked the stock one so I didn't want to trench it out and have it blow. The Malossi cases are already bigger and thicker. But, if I can manage to blow these cases I'll have an excuse to go even crazier with billet case!
