Fuel tap now not leaking, picked up copper washers this morning but should have been fibre. Auto shop had none so hardware shop saved the day. No right size one but can drill out so for now I have a tap washer I think he had with plain washer. Will keep checking see how long rubber holds out. Other parts have arrived will put them on later after a doze.

I have a large tin of extra fiber/rubber/nylon/copper/brass/plastic/composite/aluminuminium washers and seals scavenged and saved from auto/plumbing work that is invaluable for jobs like that. I sometimes buy assortments from shops or surplus centers to add to the tin just because. It has saved desperate trips to the store at midnight etc or having to shut off the water for long periods several times. It has an array of brass and stainless screws in it also for plumbing valves. Nothing disrupts a household like no water in the morning, almost as bad as bombs or war or a disgruntled woman. Plumber calls get real expensive in the middle of the night but cheaper than dealing with 'she who must be obeyed' for a few months. Witches have long memories.

Yes I am going to start a separate smaller tin for odds like this rather than putting them in my larger two nut, bolts, washers bearings and what have you tins FrankenMech.

Nearest Lidl is 30 miles away and looking like tank off again in the morning and drill out one of the fibre washers. Sure I felt a little petrol when fitting the new seat cover earlier.

I use an old fish food tin, about 4" dia and 8" tall.

Finally after this last attempt today we have a leak free seal on the, tank panels on and chain adjusted. New seat cover fitted just needs a extra bit of velcro to hold it down at the front but not complaining for a cost of £4.85 keeps my ass dry. There is light at the end of the tunnel 🤔 Whilst there sorted out the tools I mainly will be using when I get back to school tomorrow only thing I replaced was the crappy ratchet but still useful for doing handlebar stems as it has a bit that goes in the back of it gives better grip than a short 6mm hex key. Surprising how many kids stems are loose when we check them over. At least 4 in every 25 bikes. The only additional tools for the motorbike use was a 17mm spanner and longer xhead screw driver on it for ease, plus a little short 8&10mm opened spanner which stays with the tool kit.

Sounds like some wires crossed. I have never worked on Suzuki electrickery, only Yamaha and that was 20 years ago.

Oh Joy indeed! -Typical parts problems. Does this bike use a CDI if so AC or Battery type? Have you ever found a service manual with an electrickery cave painting? What supplies the ignition power?

Got new CDI. Ignition is DC. Now have new ignition switch on order. Same connector, same colour wires and positioned in the same place. At least I can leave it for a bit as part arrives on Wednesday my birthday nextday. I can mend it then.lol Oh and the only wiring diagram I can find is in Italian.

Italian is better than nothing. You can enlarge it and print it out at the local copy shop. Use Google to translate labels that are not obvious and scribble those labels on the printout, Easy-Peasy. Then you can figure out why the starter circuit is powering the ignition. If you put your brain to work (without blowing fuses -er- brain cells) you can probably work out what could possibly be miswired with the aid of a test light. The CDI has to be powered up when that ignition is in the ON position. It should not be powered by the start button unless the start function is not a button but is a ignition switch function like a car. I don't know what electrickery Suzuki uses.
