I run a white 1000 Malossi and it still seems stiff.?. I do have a torsion control as well tho. Of course make sure there isn't any binding. But i know you will. I had some of it in mine but i think it was the spring? The OR kits like small OD clutch and bells IMO. The bigger clutch and bells get in the way of the pulley some.

I dunno when or if I'll be getting a new clutch. This one's lightened with 2000RPM springs, it's the Hoca with the Hoca bell, I think 112mm. Leaves hard, RPM stays steady... all the way through. I can't imagine it being much better. Only way I'd prob go with something smaller is if I can't get that last bit of the vari covered by removing the spacers or if I see evidence of contact there. Even then, that last bit is honestly pointless. It's more "bragging rights" than anything. Not even sure that's worth anything. Everyone else does my speeds on 50-70ccs. lol

I run a white 1000 Malossi and it still seems stiff.?.. i just took the white malossi spring out of my pug for that reason. not sure what's in it now lol, its a rusty old effort from an old chinese gy6 motor which seems to be doing the job a lot better. when it comes to off the shelf 'performance parts' i think there is a lot of bollox talked. obviously they want to sell their wares but not everything works for everyone and especialy with cvt tuning, a lot of it comes down to rider weight, riding style and the type of roads you ride. sometimes oem parts work better for general road use.

Some of the "performance" springs are just too darn long IMO. They will get coil bind from the coils actually wanting to overlap on some apps. Im not saying this needs to be done Brent. Just throwing out some things ive noticed with mine. Did you set a clutch on yours w/o a spring and open it up to see if the pulley hits it? Mine did some with the same clutch and bell your running. Nothing a file didnt fix though

Can't say I did. I will have a look though sooner or later. Thanks for the info. Oh and the Naraku contra I'm using definitely doesn't bind. It's got less coils than the OR stuff that came with the kit.

Messed with T1 a little this morning. Started off by putting the 90cc fan back on to keep it cooler. It gets hot pretty fast with the little fan. I then started it up and it started perfectly, without a bunch of smoke. No gas on the floor or moisture on the carb. Guess the float fixed itself! Good, I don't enjoy messing with the carb on T1 since it's hard to get to all connections. On to the CVT. I pulled out the 2 spacer washers that I had in the variator. The bad thing here is that now it doesn't leave the belt free at rest and it's not using quite as much of the rear pulley. Here's a before and after. Then I pulled the rear pulley apart and checked it out as 2strokd suggested for any bind or anything keeping it from being able to open. I found no issues. Opens the same amount with or without the clutch mounted and the spring didn't look like it was near binding. Sorry, kinda hard to squeeze a pulley with two hands and take a pic of the spring, but here is the pulley without a spring checking for clearance issues. I put the bell on as well, and it was still fine. No marks anywhere either that would indicate contact. Fired it up and put my gear on. A moment later, it stalled out. I then realized I had shut of the manual fuel petcock last time. Oh crap, the carb is probably still having issues. Oh well, I'm gonna ride now. I'm geared up. Well, that was probably a mistake. I hit 69MPH, but I never passed 10,000RPM. At least 500RPM shy of what it was doing before. It felt and sounded very rich at lower throttle positions especially and the throttle response had degraded. Damn, I guess I gotta screw with the carb after all. I didn't manage to get rid of any of that mark left over on the variator. Hopefully that's just from it running a bit poorly.

Took the carb off, cleaned it throughly. Everything looked OK with the float, needle, and seat to me. I set it just a little lower anyway. It didn't chug out smoke like it has and didn't seem to load up. Took it for a ride and got 69MPH out of it again. Still not responding like it did, but now I think it's a function of removing the washers in the CVT. I'll probably need to go lighter on roller weights. I paid close attention to the tach, the best I can with it vibrating around at speed. Looks like it hits maybe 9,800 max now.

Looks like it needs a touch more travel to get the belt all the way up the vari..Wonder if the belt just needs some miles to stretch/wear some...

They do break in... Glad to see you have no issues with the TD and clutch Tune on my friend, tune on

You could be at your hp/aero drag limit.... it just won't go any faster....

I think I'm at the limit at under 10,000RPM. I should have another 1,000 in there. This one isn't like all my other big motors that peak under 10. I don't think I've got a lot left, but I think I can at least get to where I was before. I seem to be making more power than when I hit my best speed, but then I've put on some pounds since then. It's not that it isn't over-revving to 10+, it normally hits the peak RPM and just stays there from start to finish. I haven't seen overrev and the only time it's under peak is when I'm not WOT. It's amazingly steady. Riding with this CVT shows you exactly what whoever came up with the CVT probably had in mind. Peak power any time you're WOT basically. I'm gonna be sad when I get back on P90 and have shifts and all that stuff. lol

Yep, your getting it dialed in now then... Might still be more in it but if your able to get right back on "target RPM" at any speed or incline with the crack of the throttle its gotts ta be close. Did you actually check the pulley and see if it could be filed to open more? Mine needed some. I had some problems with mine at first tho (my fault). Once they are dialed in, MAN! I agree, this is what you want in a CVT. Im a shiftin, gear bangin fool, but ya just cant beat a well tuned CVT im tellin ya! My 103 likes anything above 10,000RPM, peak power being somewhat around 11,000. It used to run out at 12,000 across the traps with short gears and no OR kit. Anything past 1/2 to 3/4 track and i was just screamin along wishing the finish line was closer lol.

I just made sure there was no clearance problem with the clutch keeping it from opening. It's worked so well from the start I just kinda wanted to leave as much alone as I could till I know I need to change it. I'm gonna get it back to the revs it should see before I worry about anything else.

Had 2 girls on a scooter excited to see me on T1 while out on a test ride just a few moments ago. Smiling and waving excitedly. That's a first.
Just my luck though, they were prob 10 on one of those little pink/purple Power Wheels scooters. Gave me a good laugh.

Maybe you should start packing a few sticks of Juicy Fruit.
