Eh. I doubt I'm gonna put a ton of effort out for the electrical. Most I'd do is tap the tail into 12v batt. It's not like I actually ride this thing much. It's the most fun for power, but it sux being scared every time you see a cop. Kinda ruins the whole thing. I pretty much take it out and see how fast I can go on a back road then it'll sit and collect dust and then I'll decide I wanna go fast again and then it'll collect more dust and so on.

I re-packed the silencer today. Used some "fluffier" material that I had decent results with on the ZX and MRP pipes. Didn't do much for this. Sounded just a tiny bit quieter at idle, still loud as hell with any throttle when I took a brief ride. Did see 70 at least, hitting about 10,500RPM with 7.5g rollers. Also got the throttle response back how it should be that way. Not sure if I wanna keep going lighter or not yet. The tail is definitely on/off as Luke suggested. No way I'm sitting and revving to 4-5,000RPM any time I'm stopped, so something will have to change there. I took a few pics to try and show how poor the headlight is. Kinda hard to tell with pics, but here goes anyway. Looking at the headlight at idle. The blue bulb is an LED 194 bulb, just bright enough to light up the headlight housing basically. You can kinda see the 60W headlight is barely brighter than it at idle. Same shot at 4-5,000RPM. Sorry, hard to take a pic, hold the throttle, and look at the tach at the same time. The next 2 shots are with the scoot looking toward the Venus parked in the garage. 1st shot is at idle, second at 4-5,000RPM. Hardly anything at idle. It straight up sucks riding through my town at 25MPH, wondering if the tail is on at all when I have to let off and wondering if cars turning in front of me will even notice it's a scooter since the light is so dim. Light gets close to full power around 8,000RPM. Seems to go along with the results I posted on the NCY's voltage tests not long ago. I would not recommend this to anyone planning on doing night riding. Other bad thing, when slowing down for my driveway I had to go at a walking pace to find exactly where it was because there was really no light on the ground. I've had a sorta vibration coming from the gearbox I believe for a while. It's been pretty mild though and I've just ignored it. Can't really feel it when moving, just when pushing it. Well, seems like it's getting worse. Now it is an obvious bump bump bump when I roll it forward or backward. Clutch and rear pulley jump around and hit the cover when this bump happens. Not sure if it's a bearing or something with the gears themselves, but I need to have a look at it. I drained the gear oil to see if anything was unusual there... I've never seen gear oil come out of a scooter looking anything like that. This oil probably hasn't had 500 miles on it. I've drained it at 2,000+ before and seen it come out looking like new. Definitely gotta get in there and see what's up.

That NCY iggy looks like a "daytime use only" item..Better open up that tranny before it locks up ,flat spotting tire and leathers!!

Yeah, I am. I was thinking the same thing... it would not be cool if something decided to go at speed. Oh I tried to blow by a RADAR sign to get it on the GoPro. So blurry with vibration you can't see it. I did 65 in a 30 for nothing. lol If they ever put a real speed camera on that thing I'd be in so much trouble. Now it flashes at you like a cam flash going off and says slow down, but it's just lights no cam.

This is probably a hare-lipped idea but I read somewhere lately that a smaller wattage headlamp bulb will illuminate brighter at low rpm than a higher wattage bulb will. Could try it I guess. Of course there goes your high speed illumination too, so....

" i got 70"... "I got 75".. "HEY, that was me!" 70MPH is fast :wtg:  !! Man, keep your butt off the road with lowtono lights before you get plowed by a drunk :stars: Then again, a drunks gonna plow whatever, lights or not :paranoid: :light: . Makes me really wonder if mine puts out more wattage? Being 8 coils and all... Hope the trans isnt too big a deal?.. Mine used to make a slight "clunk, clunk, clunk" if i pushed it. Never seemed to be binding but always bothered me. I never addressed the issue, switched engines first.

lol I like the pack idea.
I have to assume yours makes more power with 2x the coils on it. Easy to test. I did all sorts of ways so you could pick any of them to compare. Easiest is prob just checking AC voltage with the stator disconnected from everything. Record ACV at 2,000-10,000RPM in 2,000RPM increments and we could compare with what I got. Lemme know if you ever try it, I'd like to see what it does.

I took the trans apart this morning. I was expecting to really see something wrong, but can't say I did. I really thought I might have a gear with some screwed up teeth, but they all looked good to me. Worst thing I found was probably the rear axle bearing. It felt a little gritty, but nothing major. I popped the seals off and the grease was still in there and looked OK. I dunno what's up for sure. I've got all of the bearings out and I'm gonna replace all of them as well as the seals. Can't hurt with 10,000+ miles on most of the bearings probably.

Might as well at that point huh? Im betting you have a bearing with a worn race that maybe doesnt feel bad to free spin but does under load?... Good call on the R&R

I was looking around considering replacing these with hybrid ceramic bearings (steel races, ceramic balls). No way they make enough difference to be worth what they'd cost. Looking at a couple hundred dollars. Nevermind. lol Full ceramics at VXB can be up to about $150 per bearing. :scared:

Good quality standard bearings work mighty fine when they are swimming in lube!!

They'll have to. lol I bought enough to do this job 2x, I own a few of these things anyway, and with seals it still cost half what hybrids would.
