lol Now there's an idea. Just be careful, the stereo might get more attention than you want if you have laws about stereos there. Here, you can get a ticket if you can be heard at 50ft... which would be quite easy.

I rode for about 6 miles tonight. It was pretty brief because of strong winds. The stereo never gave me any trouble since the rubber cushioned amp mounting. ;D

After a couple of hours of riding, with lots of situations, and over bumps, and everything else the stereo never switched or cut out. Definitely install anti-vibration mounts of some sort if you get this system.
I gotta say, it makes riding even better. It's really nice having tunes on long stretches of road in the country.

...And so ends the stereo. I went for a 50 mile ride, took the GoPro but I haven't even got it on the PC yet. When I got home I parked in front of the garage door to walk in and open it. As I walked away, the Venus fell over. :censored: wind! I never even thought much of it, till I picked it up. I don't think I've dropped it before, but a little fall usually doesn't do much in stones. Worst I've done till now was break a bar end mirror on the SunL when it tipped over. I had just told a friend a few hours ago that it's one of those things you get used to quick, and I wouldn't know what to do without it. I gotta see if I can get just a speaker or even a pair. Since it's the mount, not so sure I think plastic welder is a good idea.

If you can open up the speaker you can use a couple of fender washers and nuts on the inside of it to re-mount it right?

I dunno, the whole back is cracked up enough that I'm not so confident in a repair.

You could try and fix it like a hole in a boat. Smear the inside surface with a nice thick coat of epoxy and put a piece of fiberglass cloth into the wet epoxy, let dry and then coat the cloth with more epoxy. That should reinforce it.

I'll have to see if I can even get it apart. Never tried before. Then I can show you how bad my fiberglass skills are. Well, maybe I should say how non-existent they are. lol

You guys are full of ideas. Thanks! ;D Got the vid uploaded. Just cruisin'. Checked out the trip log stuff with the GPS. Pretty spiffy. lol My speedo's max speed and the GPS are only 0.2MPH off. I suppose that and T2's margins for error might prove that using radar signs to set up a bicycle speedo can actually be quite effective. Both less than 0.5MPH error vs GPS. Judging by what the cars and trucks say vs those radar signs, I'd venture to say the scoots are more accurate than a lot of stock cars. I might have to check the Venus' CVT out soon. I think max revs were 8400 at 56MPH. Should be getting closer to 9,000 even with the mild fuel economy setup.

I see they do sell replacement speakers for $9.99. Shipping brings it to $18.31 for me though. I'll still see how bad it looks to repair before spending $20 though. www.gooddeals18.com/product/SHKSPEAKERS/1-extra-chrome-or-black-waterproof-marine-speaker.htmlWhenever I mess with it, I might see if I can make a new mount or alter those. I did see yesterday that the speaker placement made me uneasy on twisty bits at speed. The big fat gloves for cold weren't helping either. I found it more difficult than it should be to use the brakes and throttle and reposition my hands and such. I've never had an issue on the previous rides, but I was putting around.

I kinda used John's method. It involves less fiberglass. lol It's a good thing too, I made enough of a mess this way. I cut out 2 pieces of aluminum and drilled holes that will match up to the mount. I put one on and filled the busted out plastic with plastic welder. Then I stuck the other piece on and tightened them together with nuts and bolts. The bolts will stay to use for mounting, so I used JB Weld to help hold them to the aluminum too. The mess came from squeezing out the plastic welder when I tightened it. I wiped it away, but it must have started setting up faster than I thought it would. I might make these things quick disconnect while I'm at it. Not sure. Would be kinda nice to just unhook 'em and unscrew one nut for each to get them off the bars if I wasn't gonna use them for some reason. I had to knock a hard grommet out that was glued in and cut the wires from the speaker as is to get it free.
