The belt is getting kinda glazed. I guess 8-9hrs straight of riding is hard on 'em. It's also getting worn just a bit, so I had to remove a spacer from the vari to get rid of the slip I was experiencing. Does well now. Feels good. I was leaned over the front on the first launch in the vid below. It's kinda unpredictable. One time it will just go up an inch or two and another it wants to come up hard. I think it could do more with a little lighter sliders, but it seems well setup to ride. what kind of camera is that?

GoPro Hero HD. Same one I use on all my ride vids now. I can't say enough about it. Takes amazing video, is small and light, and pretty affordable considering you see TV shows using them to get action shots a lot. Lately I've been shooting in 720p, but it does do 1080p and it will do 720p at 60 frames per second as well as other resolutions.

I went for a 50 mile ride this morning. 20 miles from home the belt snapped. Here's why I love my tool kit (when I remember to bring it). 5 minutes later... The belt broke at 52MPH WOT. I think the max is right about there or maybe a couple MPH higher tucked with the little tire out back. This vari is modded much like T1's. The belts on T1 always break when I'm either at my max speed or accelerating near it. Maybe I just mod them for too much travel?

Maybe so bro,? I think you have just found your answer!!! You know i have modded some the same way but never have went miles on end at WOT like you. Makes me think your belt is riding right up top of the pulleys and maybe only half of the belt (or less) is actually making contact with them (the pulley surface).?. If so...I know they are expensive but man i cant say enough for my OR kit....Hint, hint...I know, i know!! All shut up

On farther thought, the only longer ride I ever took on T1 where it didn't kill a belt was when I didn't try to go over 60. On my long rides to the beach I used a spacer in the vari to get the belt down low that I didn't shave down... that way it would partially restrict travel.

Do you have any non modded stock vari's?

Yeah. I use modded Hoca varis on this and T1. The stock vari couldn't seem to handle the power and gearing of the Venus when I tried it before.

Do you still have the Sunl? Sell it to fund an OR kit!

It got chopped up and turned in for scrap metal. Still have the engine, which I suppose I'll put back together at some point.

I'm tired of looking at this. I found the steering stem and front forks from a Lance Charming (like the Venus, but with forks and disc) on eBay cheap. It actually works! The wheel I have uses a 12mm axle, so I drilled the forks to accept that. The axle is too long though. I've got plenty left to straighten out, and parts to wait for, but it looks like I might finally be able to ditch the stock front suspension as I've been trying to do for some time now. I tried to bolt on the fender since the charming uses something that looks the same to me. The mounts are close, but not quite right and the fender isn't quite wide enough. Oh well.
