When I won the front end cheap, I picked up a wheel to use with it. A 12" wheel for pitbikes. I like the look. Only thing I'm not a huge fan of is the tube tires. I don't plan to go offroading, but I could get one with a tire and tube for the same price as just a wheel so why not? I picked up a pitbike front brake, but not the right one. At least it was only $8. I mounted a super motard 3.00x12 tire and slapped the wheel on just for a sneak peak. I'm liking it so far. Hope I can get a brake setup that works. Oh, remember that extra tire and tube? Yeah, it's a good thing I had the tube. I'm new to tube tires, or at least it's been a long time since I've done maybe 1 or 2 ever. Tried installing the tube the first time with no air. Bound, pinched, cut. Second time around I put a small amount of air in the tire and things went much better.

The only problem is that now it looks really weird with the tiny rear tire. Oh well. At least maybe we'll have something new to look at in onboard shots. lol

I got the correct brake rotor in today so I bolted it up and got that all setup. There is very slight contact of the rotor and pads. It's hardly any resistance and I think it'll go away after the first ride though. I used the axle I had and just cut it down and rethreaded it with an SAE size that I had around. Just gotta put everything back together now and make room for a brake lever.

Love it! :thumb: Is there much weight difference?

I never weighed the wheel and tire. Meant to. There's a very obvious difference in the weight of the wheel for sure. I think the forks might be slightly lighter. I got it all done tonight, or I thought I did. Looked pretty cool. Headed out for a test ride. I've never been so sacred at 25MPH in my life. lol The front was too tight so it was really hard to keep it straight. Kinda felt like I was gonna do a barrel roll at any minute. No biggie, I'll go back and loosen it up a little and be good to go. Yeah, not so much. If I loosen it more there's play in the head. My guess is I shouldn't have used a drop in bearing up top. That's what they come with in the bottom, but the top uses individual ball bearings and many more than are in the cage type. Of course I lost some of those the first time around, so I figured I could get by with the spare caged ball bearings from the bottom. Guess not. I suppose I'll need to measure those and try to find some that work. Then I get to pull it all back apart and then back together again. One bright point, the brake does work.

Man, you seem to be having more fun with th' lil 'Venus de Meanus' than you even did with th' T-bikes. I suppose being a frugal lil scat bike that will cruise and get decent mpg has a lot goin' fer it. Cool lil retro-stroker she is. When are the new accel times coming?

I don't have a single accel time from ever. :dunno: It's quick, but probably slower than I think. I doubt anything would be that impressive with my weight on it.
Oh 2 notes I forgot. I had trouble bleeding the brakes at first. I always install my brakes so the levers are angled down a bit. Installed them level and bled the brakes easily.
The forks were very soft. I popped the caps off and topped them off with some 10w30 I had around and now they're very stiff. I've heard lots of folks complain of soft suspension, it might just be that easy for you. Fluid level adjustments can make a big difference in front forks. I fill all of mine up on every scoot, but I'm also heavy so that may be too much for the smaller folks.

Perhaps the steering head angle is different for the link type fork and telescopic fork frames.. :stumped:

I like the wheel. Very clever! Did the front fender go back on easy or did you have to mod that too? Pic?
