I guess an inner rotor iggy is what I really need but the dam things are just too expensive. How much are they? Because here in Holland there are just so many 2nd hand HPI's for sale for about 120 euro's. Shipping to USA is 35 euro's so for about 150 euro (175 dollar?) you can have a very high quality ignition. You can even add a 10W lighting coil. The ones I have seen here are USD $350 ish. Thanks for the link, they have some cool stuff. How hard are they to install and set up? Also it sounds like a 10 watt lighting coil is not going to be enough juice to power lighting?

10w is very weak. But it might be just enough to keep your battery charged during daytime so you can use it when it gets dark. But you should change to LEDs all around i'd say.
Installings isnt hard. Put the marks on 3.5mm BTDC and you have a base tune. After that use a timinglight for finetuning.

Alright, time to get back to this project. I am currently looking for an oversized piston for this build I used a ballhone on the cylinder a good bit and now the piston is too loose for my liking. I need a piston 1 size up from a 46.95
Would a single ring piston work any better on this build? If so could I just use a 2 ring piston with a single ring?
Also if you use an oversize piston do you need to get the cylinder bored, or can you use a ballhone to size it?

dont remove a ring for no reason. the empty ring land willlet some primary compression slip out the exhaust port.

A fair bit has happened since I last posted in this thread. Due to $$ issues, my hard hardheadedness, some laziness, and far to many scoot projects going at once, I ended up taking the streetrace motor off this scoot and I put it on the shelf. I decided on putting a stock motor, with a stock crank, and an Autotech 70cc kit paired with the Malossi MHR rep pipe on this scoot. I also moved the overange kit to this motor and found a dell clone carb to go with it. That was about 5 months ago and many miles have passed. I run it pretty hard and have not really had any problems with it that I can remember. RPM's run around 10,000 on it's first run, but drop down to 9250-9450 when everything is warmed up. 190mech The stock crank is running strong so far as I can tell. I tend to run it fairly rich through most of the range except WOT. Lately I have been adding extra oil to lean it out a bit, and it runs even better. Tonight I finally broke down and installed a stem and downhill style bars that I have had laying around for a couple years. I like them a lot, I should have put them on a long time ago.

I have the same mirrors! You got them from China? Aliexpress or something? I hate them though...they're way too narrow...i have to lean left or right to see behind me

Mild sport stuff doesn't impress anyone, but it gets the job done and tends to take a lot of abuse. That's why my trusty backup engine combo is similar to yours. Hard to argue with a cheap setup that can rack up miles and smiles.

Lucass2T The mirror on the right side is worthless and I believe it is the one you are talking about. The bar end mirror on the left works great, but unfortunately it fell of last night while I was cruising . I whipped around to pick it up but it was broke. I need to order some more of them.

Hard to argue with a cheap setup that can rack up miles and smiles. The funny thing is this is a stock block no trenching, stock crank, and generic 70cc cylinder. I just slapped the cylinder on without checking port timings, and it is nearly as good as the street race motor that I spent plenty of time setting up. It does not pull as hard as the streetrace does, but it is pretty darn good for what it is. I don't know, it may be this MHR rep pipe doing all the work.

Perfect speedo. Funny thing is I'm used to one in all of my other vehicles when I'm on my scoots I'm always looking down for one but it's not there.
