At least they are close enough to your Tritons that I can get parts off of Ben. Its not even from a Triton! It's actually from a RX8 Most of the parts I've been giving you are actually off of that RX8 that I stripped. definitely check out what exactly the issue is though. I'm hoping for your sake that it isnt a frame problem, cuz you'd end up having to do some welding then. Let us know what you find out. And take some pics! If theres one things I've learned, its that you can never take too many pictures.

Yesterday on the way home from work the engine died on me. I thought it was over heating, so I let it sit for a minute. Started it back up and it wouldn't do anything but idle. Then after about a minute it wouldn't idle anymore. Walked it about half a mile home - luckily I wasn't too far. I pulled the cylinder expecting to see a broken ring. Not the case. Found a small very thing piece of metal - One of the reeds - on the ground after I pulled the cylinder. WTF. A reed broke and went into my engine. The cylinder was luckily OK, so was the piston - Besides the fact that I broke the piston skirt when removing it on accident (don't ask ). Well, then I was thinking since my brother's scooter is here waiting, and I'm in need of transportation, I'll just borrow his reed block, put my stock cylinder on, and use it to get myself to work. Went to start it up - nothing. I have spark, I have compression - but I have no fire. Awesome. So now my grandma is driving me to work again. I'm just about at the end of my tolerance with this thing, lol. Anyone got a spare 1E40QMB they want to sell? Once I get it running again, I'll go ahead and check out the issue with the mounts.

I've never had it happen to me, but stock steel reeds breaking isn't that uncommon from what I hear. Carlos might be able to get you a replacement piston for a decent price. If you haven't already, try to make sure there are no pieces of a reed in your crankcase. If you wanna get yours running, make sure you aren't flooding the cylinder if you've still got big jets in from the BBK.

If i dont i will send you a set of stock stainless reeds for free with the top-end. Shoot my your address in a PM!

Down jetted, to 80. Going to put the stock in when I get home and give it another go. Tried to make sure there were no flakes or anything, but I mean, without opening the case it was about impossible.
There is also no head gasket or base gasket, just the copper spray. Wanted to try it out. I blame myself for not testing it last night when I put it all together. Was just too tired.
Edit: That was a post I had left on the computer at 9am this morning, just pressed send as soon as I walked in without reading the new posts.
2strokd - That would be awesome man! My address should be on the package I sent you, but I'll send it in a PM so you can have a record of it. Thanks man!
Ben - I really do have the worst luck with it. Wish I would have kept a record of how long it's been unusable, compared to how long it's been working. I'm thinking "not working" > "working". Oh, and I knew you had one, was just hoping you would bring it up and not wanna keep it as a spare ;D. Sending the PM right now!

Going to get the 70 kit working on the Mati then I think I'm going to be done with the performance mods for now. Need to keep it as a reliable daily driver. I'm going to have a lot more fun with my new CPI Popcorn project ;D

Was on the way to work this morning, cruising fine, relishing in the fact that the scooter is driving so smoothly (minus the uphills ). All the sudden the engine halts with the most horrible sound. I was sure I broke something in the engine. I pulled over as fast as possible to check out what was going on and get ready to phone for an emergency ride to work, as I was already almost late. Went and did a little quick look around and noticed something hanging out of the fucking scoop over the cooling fan! Looked inside and saw a sock all wrapped around the fan. Spent like 2 minutes twisting and pulling to get the sucker out. Inspected the fan, all was well (relief). Noticed that the cooling duct was cracked. DAMN! That's the second one! All it needs is a little plastic epoxy and touch up paint. Made it to work just fine, without excessive overheating. So either I'm going to avoid everything on the road as much as possible (even though I never saw the sock in the first place, think it might have been stuck to my pants from static electricity), or I'm going to put a screen on the inside of the scoop to catch shit like that. Here are some pics. The crack is just below the top screw. Leaves the bottom of the duct open, and where the engine shroud meets the fan duct there is a big space now

I probably still wouldn't add a screen or other anti-sock device, not that it's a bad idea. 7,000 miles and I've never had any problems with my scoop sucking in my laundry.

I don't think a screen would hurt. It doesn't have to be a fine mesh. 1/4x1/4 would work good I think. Plenty of flow but it'll stop big rocks and most debris.
