I did a web search last night about case(carter) tuning and found quite a few tuners did a trench cut from the reed area to the main transfer entry, guess the theory is when the reeds open the second time during pipe suction, the mixture flows smoothly to the main transfers..Here is a pic I scrounged to illustrate the mod; I may use this trick, what do ya'll think?

Interesting. I'm not quite sure what to think of that. It sounds like a good idea, but I dunno how it will actually work. If it's being done by sources that you'd trust, I say go for it.

Case tuning seems to be as secretive as pipe building, dont know why,but I'll keep digging and post what I find..

I have read about that also...They said they were strong when finished . Makes sense to me, ide say try it, if it turns out to be bad it can be filled back in later. I know the motor would need torn back down tho. I gotta extra case for ya if something really bad happens :thumb: . What crank did you get again? The splines the same?

My theory in performance tuning of late is.... go big, straight and smooth on the bottom end and transfers but keep the pulse energy to the pipe high and let the pipe do all the work.

Tip... If you ever need extra 54mm head/base gaskets, email autotech355@gmail.com . He just charged me $1 per set and I had been paying $20 per set from the ATV sites.

Beadblasted and epoxied the outer cases today so when I begin to cut the transfer and 'trench' port there is no worry about going through to the other side.No new crankshaft yet, been looking for some economical up gears for the tranny too..
