Yep Robert,I think I'll ship it to ya to set up the CVT,youre such a whiz at that I'm sure it'd be running ahead of the rest, think we'd need to change the rear tire pretty often though

Had some time to do some tuning today, went for the rollers first, had 4g(5&3) there from the 70cc so in went the 5's(6&4),still felt real strong with a bit more speed, next to 5.5(6&5),but first I thought I'd check out if the pulley faces could be trimmed a bit to get the belt riding slightly out of the groove, flipped over my new Prodigy Variator and was shocked that it was already out of the guide bosses! Dug out my old modded stocker and checked ; Here is the difference between the 2; The Prodigy must be designed for a shorter inner sleeve than the CPI,wouldnt last long like that!Ya'll check that when installing aftermarket vari's.. Installed the stock vari with the 5.5g(6&5) and took it for a spin, ran stronger, jumped up to 52 going up hill, but had the 'shift feel' so I went back to the 5g(6&4) in the stocker vari, now has a smooth transition and good topend(for the 'drag' gearing I have).Checked the vari faces,no magic marker, good! While the cover was off I could'nt help but notice the beefy triangulated gussets in the cover thinking surely the engineers wouldnt have put those there if it was not a structural member.. Reinstalled the CVT cover with all the bolts after tuning.. Noticed a slight "chirp" sound while starting and decided to retorque everything, sure enough the head had evidence of leakage, head nuts need retorquing as my base and head gaskets had settled a bit, snugged the reed cage and all pipe connections too, fired it up,no more chirp.. ;D ;D

Are you seeing why a fat man like me loves the big motors now? ;D
I am actually supposed to be doing a how to about variator setup. I was taking some pics and I've been entirely too lazy to finish it so far. But yeah, I learned to check the travel of the vari face and the guides during my belt busting endeavors. It's so simple once you think about the whole thing for a second, but somehow I missed that part of setup for a long time. I get mine way out to the edge of being free of the guides and it seems to be working fine. Just once you cross over the edge you start breaking bushings and damaging the variator.
A note about that shift feel... Try an aftermarket tq driver or you might even be able to cut your own grooves. Those straighter grooves are awesome. I recently started using the one I got for T1 on the Venus. It was gonna be temporary just to be sure the rear pulley setup wasn't giving me trouble. Now I'm gonna have to have 'em on all my 2Ts when I can afford them. If you remember me saying the belt would slip when it was shifting... not with the new grooves. That kinda turn in the stocker would screw me up so I couldn't use lighter weights. Power comes on more even and you have 3 angles with the Hoca that I have so you can fine tune your shifting (although you will no longer feel one "shift" if that makes sense).
What contra ya got in there? I was expecting to see heavier weights, but then I realise you never mentioned a contra or I missed it. Even with highway gears and a big rider mine was liking 6-7g rollers... but then I used 1-1.5K contra springs. The 90cc motors have a contra spring stock that is probably around 2x as stiff as a 49cc contra.
Thanks for rubbing it in about the CVT cover. lol I was desperate to stop breaking belts. Now I regret it but covers are around $100 shipped!!!

A 100cc is the way all scoots should run!Have read many times that the straight cut TD groove is the only way to go,guess that'll be another piece to purchase..I'm using an off brand white contra spring(1500 rpm?) but have a home made 'BB bearing' setup under it thats about 6mm thick, that increases the preload a bit and the pulleys still open fully. Was'nt pointing any fingers about the CVT cover, just want to make sure they are taken seroiusly and screwed down after the tuning is done PS,Look on ebay at the Polaris,Kasea,Dilini, etc quads, think they use a similar CVT cover, might find one cheap!

I got it from PFS. Sold as a whole clutch set with a stiffer contra, drilled clutch bell with a non slip kinda pattern machined into it, and the clutch seems to have better shoes than my stocker, but it's not lightweight. You would still need clutch springs if you went this route. Oddly enough it doesn't include those. Not a bad deal for all that you get. I def plan to order at least one more when I can. www.partsforscooters.com/169-126_Minarelli_Clutch_set

Oh, to clarify mine came with springs but they aren't late engaging springs. I have found late engaging springs to not always be the best in all my apps. I put a set of low-revers in with one set-up and it loved em! If i let it rev too much (like with tight springs) it would start to shift too much before the clutch kicked. I put in some lighter springs and was very impressed! I was happy too because i thought i was going to have to find a use for all those light springs :scared:
