Got the new bearings installed. Most of the time was spent cleaning the cases that had baked on dirt 20 yrs old. Got the crank all the way in one half and about half way in the other. Waiting on some yamabond to show up...I used different thickness of washers(and a propane torch) and the nut on end of crank to slowly suck the crank in. So far so good

Relieve pressure on the bearings before starting it by gently hitting both ends with a rubber hammer. If you start it with the side load on the bearings, they will break in no time.

And relieve pressure after installing crankshaft, you'll see that it will be harder to turn right after installation, and it will turn easier when done. Personally, I always put some Ultra slick bearing grease before installing the bearings. Little safety .

Heck yea, what do you want for the throttle cable? Also, what do I use for a choke cable? I have always had carbs with a lever on them. Are you saying make sure the crank is seated correctly? I will make sure nothing is binding up.

I like the fairing on 1984 razz. Its like a big fairing and covers like half the front wheel. I saw some used on ebay I may just try to make one out of fiberglass. I don't have a lot of time so will take awhile. What do you use for a mold that you can form and fiberglass won't stick to?

Urethane foam (the one in 2 seperate containers you mix together, not the canned one it does a crappy job), or insulation styrofoam with putty, body filler or drywall plaster for making shapes. Clay can be used too ( don't take the ones which harden at ambient temperature, you don't want the clay to harden it's too fragile once hard and it cracks everywhere) Put wood/floor varnish on top, then several coats of wax. Buy PVA and brush on 2-3 coats and it won't stick. Takes a whole lot of time and never look as ''good'' as you expected, trust me !
Throttle cables are $20 + ship, I have 2 left. I always used stage6 choke cables because they offer 150cm cable instead of only 50cm. They are practical also because you don't have to keep it open, there's a position where it stays open.
It's not to make the crank seat correctly. It makes the side load when you put the cases together (there's always some force needed to put them all the way together) and this creates the load on the bearings. If you don't take it out, bearings will wear and become loose and make strange noise in no time. Sightly hammering both ends will help centering the crankshaft and will also take the load out of the bearings (they move a very little and get the good position).

Got the cases together good enough to squish sealant out. Yea I see what u are saying about tapping the ends of the crank. It is all the way together and you can turn it ovr by band but it doesn't spin like it should. I tapped the ends like you said. I have assembled the top end also. I don't know what to do about it not spinning freely?

Doesn't spin as free because of the bearing's grease.

So just kick it over a bit and get some pemix in there before starting?
