Since changing to a #40 slide and w7 needle I was having some low idle issues at start up and then it would go high. Obviously lean. So I retuned the carb. I had tried several pilot jets before the slide and needle swap and never could get it to run good with the a/f screw more than a 1/3 turn out. Now it's 1 1/2 out, starts first kick when cold, no choke to a nice steady 1750 rpm. I don't know much about the differences in slides but read a post that corrosion made and got to thinking it was worth a shot. So far so good. I also got an NGK boot from Gary at gforce(1 day) still waiting on one I ordered locally a week ago. So know more boot falling off. Aside from the obvious visual of corrosion, what's another sign to look for in a bad slide? Mine seemed nice and clean when I cleaned the carb. Went right in with no issues, no grime or anything. IN fact the inside of the whole carb was pretty damn clean. Which leads me to believe that the carb on that Baccio is NOT stock. I just finished laying the extended patio and it's about to get dark out so there's no chance I'll be toying with the scoot tonight. I'm tired and feel quite like a slave right now. My neighbor did say it looked nice, even though it's uneven as all get out. Maybe it's my OCD, but at least I got my patio table to sit without wobbling. Time for a beer and a movie I suppose.

You have a stock carb or stock replacement. I've got a couple and they've all looked clean. I changed the slide to a different size same with the needle. Nothing was bad about the ones in the carb it was done to get a better tune. The changes were done on recommendation of corrosion to another member and I grabbed the idea. Worked out well! No need for any of this with a stock setup, never heard of different slides for the stock carbs.

I was thinking of trying to repair the groove in the needle to get it back to the original setting. Moving the clip up a notch should be where I put it, but I'm worried about it falling back out again like it did. I thought of putting a dab of JB Weld on it though so it is possible. I'm going to order all the parts I mentioned to you before and start step by step. Partsforscooters doesn't have a tuning kit of rollers or sliders so I'd have to order them from Scrappy or some other place. But at least I'll have a new vari on the way along with clutch springs and such. Also I think on the M1 I'm going to do a fluid change on it. She has over 575 miles on it, I'm thinking it's broken in by now. I'll have to wait till I get the time to do a valve adjustment, remove the PAIR system and I have an idea for an air intake mod I was thinking of. Not sure if it has been done or not, but I thought of putting a PVC ball valve in line of the air intake to adjust/tune the A/F mixture instead of screwing with the carb for now? Thought about doing that to the baccio, for an on the go Rich/Lean test.

Change the fluids, fuel and vacuum lines adjust valves and leave it alone.

Change the fluids, fuel and vacuum lines adjust valves and leave it alone. You're no fun... But yeah, that one is being left alone for now. My eye is on Christine at the moment.

I finally got a TTO cylinder head temp gauge. Only took me 381 miles on this build and about 1k on the last. Waiting on the extension cable to come tomorrow but went ahead and made a bracket and mounted it with a matching bracket to angle the TTO Tach. I really like the S6 complete unit but I'm not crazy about cluttering the bare bars. This may look a bit cluttered but it's all hidden from view.

Got the extension and hooked up the temp gauge. What a pita! Now I see why Brent drills and taps a cooling fin. I had to grind down a fin so that the 14mm ring and it's connector could rest around the plug threads. Anyways that's done and I did about a mile wide open run with a max temp of 366F @ 12880 max rpm. Seems a bit warm. I never hold the throttle that long and hard once I'm at max speed. Once I let off it went down quickly but I'll have to get some cruising temps.

I dropped of the new cvt cover I cut up a while ago and the floor boards to be powder coated gloss black yesterday. I went the safe black route since I've been toying with the idea of 13" wheels and don't know what color those will be. Hopefully it will be the last cover for this scoot. Lol! Any thoughts on the max temp I posted above?

Any thoughts on the max temp I posted above? what was the air temp and the humidity level? Both can greatly effect engine temperature readings.

I'd say it was 78 degrees around 60% humidity. It was at 6:30pm probably same temps as you.

cool i haven't pushed my scooter that hard yet. I run 8900rpm at 55mph. Just curious to compare them between our builds.
