I noticed a left side low beam out the other day and ordered a couple of bulbs that came today. No dice. These bulbs were just changed a few months ago. Wiggling wires only made the other light flicker. Electrical stuff is not my strong suit. I can check for voltage but Ohms are a noise I use to get girls to make. So I'll check voltage and in the interim if anyone has an idea please chime in. And what temp is too hot for an aluminum cylinder. Plug looks good, runs like a champ but peaking at 390 seams high.

Have you inspected connectors from the lights to the switches? Sounds like there's power and ground there, but maybe not secure somewhere. Don't really have to know any detailed specs if you wanna check resistance (ohms). You could just use the multimeter set on ohms so you don't have to run the scooter and look for voltage. You wanna see 0 or essentially 0 resistance from anywhere there's a ground wire with one probe to a good ground with the other. Should have essentially 0 ohms on the + wire of the low beam to the power wire going into the high/low beam switch and headlight on/off switch if so equipped when the switches are on and set to low beam. Move the probe to the high beam + wire and do the same. Try wiggling wires and connectors and see if the resistance changes.

Lights are fixed. I found that one of the wires had broken free from the bulb connector. Pulled that end of the wiring out and soldered it back and presto. I always assume the worst when it comes to electrical issue and once again I adverted chasing the ghosts I read about. Relieved!

Last week I had a fuel leak that I thought was a loose vacuum petcock but tightening it didn't fix it. When I pulled it the o-ring was torn. So it was time to go gravity fed with a petcock. Easy right? Wrong. I got a 1/4" npt tap and while struggling with it I made a hair line crack in the weld that connects the threaded pipe to the tank. So I had to pull the rear plastics and tank. I ground the area down and went to weld it and blew my scooter up! Kaboom! Guess I should of drained the fuel. seriously? I weld a lot with an empty fuel tank near by and worry about it. Man, gas will ignite violently! I haven't burnt any thing up yet, I usually throw a blanket over the tank to hopefully keep sparks off and the gas from blowing in my face.

RIP damn that us nice, too bad I plan on polishing mine. I like the kicker I had bad luck with an aluminum kicker.

No there was no explosion. Just a screwed up sense if humor. That cover was nice but I made a nicer one that's at the powder coaters now. I put the bearing in first thinking I wouldn't have to bang on it and risk scratching it. Well it's going in a 400 degree oven so that bearing will probably need replacing. Unless I can open it up and get grease in it which I doubt.

I went from a 105 main to 108 after seeing high temps yesterday. Tuned the a/f and ran the same runs I was yesterday holding WOT this time longer. Max temp 344 degrees. That's down 46 degrees(390) from yesterday. Still getting great power, maybe 100 less rpm. 67 mph sitting up.

Got up to 41mph (the stock speedo was pinned at 50) but on the way back the stock speedo barely got to 40. Friggin wind.

It's pretty crazy how much difference a step or half-step (whatever you wanna call it) in jet size can make with some setups. It's all of this sorta stuff that makes me hate jet recommendations so instead get a jet kit is a better idea. From what I've seen generally the racier... more high end/high rev... it is, the more finicky it will be with any details of the tune. No idea how some even manage to run when they report a swap from say an 80 to a 100 as the next step.

It's a little scary that I've been running it with the 105 and a plug that looked okay but I was hitting 390 degrees. Granted it is cooler and it was time to upjet anyway.

This makes me want to get the CHT even more. I'm torn though- I like the TTO but don't like that it doesn't light up for night viewing. I like the TrailTech Vapor but I also like my stock gauges... although naked handlebars would look good on my scoot... decisions decisions

I hear you. I still want a gauge unit but I figure I'll have another scoot at some point to use these.
