If you have someone to help you maybe they can hold a wrench or ratchet in place while you hit it with a mallet? A ziptie helps hold the brake if needed?..
With the temp gauge, as 190 said, i just lengthened the wires with some speaker wire. Wrap the thermocoupler around the base of the plug or (even better IMO) wrap it around the base of a coolant fin on the opposite side of the fan. A couple a small pieces of rubber hose helps hold the coupler in place. Still works good after miles and miles. Not sure how if or how much the gauge is off? Ive seen over 300F and had softies at around 330-340F.

Thanks for the info on the cht guage. As for the clutch, my wife has sat on the scoot with both brakes held and the damn tire still turns. The rear brakes are tightened good too. Every time I have removed a fastener from one of these local beamers, it was way over tightened. I am at my wits end with this, my buddy with the impact said even when he does get in, he wont be home for three or four days, that means 3 weeks with the stock springs unless I figure something out. Any other clutch removal tips? I got off work at 5 am, I've been lutking here since, looking for ideas/inspiration. The exhaust should arrive today, and maybe even the bbk from nelson. The carb will be here friday. I borrowed a carb from my nephews kart, he's been grounded from it, so his dad loaned me the carb, no sneaking that way! Are clutch jobs always like this? I sure as hell hope not. Well, back to it. Chris

the stock springs won't be that bad. The only time the clutch is bad is the first time. then you do it right yourself and its cool. My first time getting it off was not fun either. I'm not even going into the first time I had to take the back wheel off...

I know auto parts stores rent some tools. Might be an option.

I know auto parts stores rent some tools. Might be an option. Good idea man, I honestly NEVER thought about that........ Ok, I just got the pipe, but my phone mem is full. When my wife gets done going through the sd card I will take & post pics. What is the exhaust off of? Cuz' " It's puurrrrdy! " mt old beamer had ugly ass squared exhaust. Got in a short test ride. Whoa this one is a little more powerful than my old one. Maybr it is the weights or the different pipe, but it's a little faster, I think. None of the stock guages work, well fuel works sometimes, so I don't have a top speed yet. I need to retorque the head bolts and put the shrouds back on to get a good example of what this little thing is made of. Both sets of brakes work okay, but rear brakes are in the near future. No problem. No sign of the bbk yet, but I am still optimistic it'll get here. Filed a complaint on the ups driver, jack@ss threw the box on thd ground and sped off....... hated to do it, but what if that pipe had been fragile? He better be happy he did speed off cuz' if he did not, I would have grabed him up. No matter what is in a box he should handle it like glass, not an empty pop can. Sorry about the rant... Anyway back to work, thanx guys. Thanks for reading. Chris EDIT: got a pic: s1370.photobucket.com/user/lisachristhompson/library/

Okay guys, out of the hole it's kinda mean for a 49. But top end SUCKS! If I go from 5grams to 5 1/2 would that theoreticaly give me a little speed? There is more there, I can feel and hear it try, but it just can't find it. Since I can't do the clutch / contra spring swap yet what else could I do other than weights? Any tips are welcome and encouragd. Thanx, Chris

Try the 5.5g. If it doesn't improve at all, it could be the gearing. Stiffer springs aren't going to help this.

Okay, 1.3 miles, top GPS mph was 37.48 Felt better crisp on throttle and still shot out of the hole. Revs go up, stay steady for a while then fall quickly and slowly climb, it aleady out revs my old beamer. I hit 41 on the old one down a slight grade. Today I did have a head wind, that stopped before I turned around. Whats going on, are the weights wrong or is it gearing like 90 said? When it cools and I warm up ( lol ) I'll do a plug chop. Thanks, Chris

Thanks, Chris That's about what my 02 runs. If you gain speed off of Hill it will Rev higher (another 10 mph by the speedo) and stay there on the flat until you let off or start up a grade. Was going to check with the ups dude, but he was an ass! Thanx man. The higher displacement should get me to 40 shouldn't it? Does that plug look off to y'all? Temp with sensor on plug base went to 284, at the highest. Averaged 250's Is that ok? I never had cht guages on a bike, so I'm not sure whats normal. Chris
