250 is normal cruise.. My Eton had 13.5 gears and fat tires, the variator had a cast in stop to keep the rollers from getting the belt all the way to the edge..Once I got a decent variator on there with good travel,it went very well with the stock clutch and TD setup..

Mine now has 130-90-10 IDK if thats what yours had. Do you happen to gave a pic of tge vari and tge stop? I've looked and mine seems like it comes pretty close to the edge of the guides. I placed a thin shim washer behind the drive boss to give it a little more travel. Once I get back on my feet what vari would you suggest? I've read about Koso, and others, but don't know which one is the better one for my scoot. I marked the vari before my last run, but I haven't kooked at it yet. With the lifhter wieghts the belt stopped 1/2 inch from the edge. I hope the shim & heavier wieghts work. Any way I have tonight off, so I am going to xatch up on some sleep. Later yall. Chris

I'd say too rich. How old is that plug? Try a new plug. It should have a caramel color.

Yeah, its not too new. I haven't had a chance to get to an auto store. Today I have to show thst damn house again, so maybe tomorrow. I thought it was a little rich too, I'm going to try to lean the mix a little, plus the new carb should be here today. More options. Would a too rich situation rob performance? My old e ton didn't smoke as much as this one is, but I thought it might have been the pipe. I'll see what happens when I readjust the carb. Also I have to pull the cover and check the vari for belt travel.

Okay, well I guess the vari is giving me as much travel as possible. My lack of speed is due to gearing, lack of power and possibly a worn belt. The belt is less than 1/2 an inch thick. It's not cracked or anything though, so it will be fine for a while. Would that cause a loss of top end? No matter what, I am absolutely tickled to have a scoot to ride. My old beamer wasn't very fast most of the time, and I still liked it, but I love this one. This one is not just a scooter, but it us also proof that there are good people in this world. I will proudly tell the story of how I got this awesome ride! The next step is to place the stickers.

The belt is less than 1/2 an inch thick. 1/2" = 12.7mm The service limit on a 17mm wide belt is 15mm. Even at 15mm it usually loses speed. Hard to imagine a belt much thinner giving full travel. Have you marked the face of the variator with a Sharpie or are you just guessing the travel is good because it's not changing speed with heavier rollers or what you can see naturally on the faces? Too rich will rob power. The CHTs sound a little cool to me, but I'm used to wide open roads and long stretches of WOT. Still, the plug (if that's relatively fresh and from hard running... not idle) supports that it may be rich. I don't know that I'd spend too much time dialing it in perfect on the carb ATM if you have a BBK on the way. At those speeds with a 1/2" belt, it's gotta be doing reasonably well and at least it sounds to be on the safer side of tune.

The fan might throw the reading of your CHT off a tad if its around the base of the plug. If its in direct path of the fan anyway. Another thing to note is the tightness of the fit around the base of the plug. If its not pretty snug and stays that way it might get a cooler reading than the actual temp?

Those kits last for years and years of abuse. I don't have the heart to abuse this kit. I just got it installed. I bent that cheap thin exhaust " gasket ". Man that thing sounds MEAN. I started with the 80 jet, but probably will swap to 85/90 before I try to tune much.

OH YEA!!! you asked me do i think it will do 40 mph. Yes, it will do at least 40 mph if tuned correctly. 43 MPH!!! Gps verified cruise at a little under WOT. I haven't ran WOT, I don't know if it us safe for my bottom end.lol Wheelies!!! It is hard to believe that scoot went that fast / ran that hard. OMG. There is a small hill coming out of my yard, stock, I had to get a run and take it a WOT. This kit I gave it a little over half throttle and.... well lets just say it almost shot out from under me. Man,what a difference. Thank you, all of you.
