I wish I knew those numbers. I didn't get a print out just trap time and speed since it wasn't an official run.

Stuck a new headlight in the scooter. One of these ebay specials. Holy hell is it brighter even in the day light but it is also hotter. I may cut some vents into the housing.

Made templates yesterday for the tray package/bottle holder/glove box thing for the footwell. was going to make them all with foam bucks because of the complex shapes but decided to try a different approach for one of them. Normally I would take the foam and cover it in glass then de-mold ( with solvent if there are undercuts like the lost wax method of casting. But since this is basically just a bucket for now I tried to lay the fiber inside the mock up cardboard template. It worked for the most part but had issues. The pot life of the 3M resin you get at your local big box retailer is very narrow and the resin started to set up before I was ready for it to. It has a small area where it wants to de-laminate. Over all I'm happy I still have a template I can reuse and know I need a slower acting hardener.

Added that sticker to the footweel. I may add a 50cc in there on the next one. I've also managed to break my mick start, fix it, fix the elec start, break the kick stand, POR 15 the rust....

Is it still a build thread if you're rebuilding your scooter?
After taking a good look at the scooter today I made a list of all the parts I need to get it back on the road and legal. Most of whats missing was just body plastic and lights.
Brake light Headlight 4 turn signals Battery Trans cover gasket Instrument cluster front fender Air filter Mirrors
And a few other small things.

CVT cover gasket is non-essential in most cases, but if you do need one you may wanna pick up a complete gasket kit for the 139QMB on eBay. $10-15 for a whole kit and you'll have spares for the rest of the engine. I'm guessing just the CVT cover gasket won't go too much cheaper than that shipped.
Going for a restoration or doing some custom stuff on the rebuild? Depending what an instrument cluster costs, and I guess how much you care about the gauges and accuracy, you might wanna look into aftermarket gauges.

Huh. I kind of like some of the other digital gauges I'm seeing in the recomendations. They look a lot like what Brent has talked about, I can't remember the name right now but I'm sure he'll know if he looks at this link.

I'd skip the Schwinn gauges. Just FYI if you're thinking Schwinn makes decent bikes so their scooters may be better, they're pretty typical Chinese scooters. Not a bad deal on a cluster, but I think I'd take my chances with an aftermarket piece. I've heard they can be accurate, at least on the speed side, as long as they allow you to dial in tire diameter. I got my Trail Tech Vapor open box for $70 and it's a quality piece with manufacturer support if you have issues or need replacements. Huh. I kind of like some of the other digital gauges I'm seeing in the recomendations. They look a lot like what Brent has talked about, I can't remember the name right now but I'm sure he'll know if he looks at this link. They look like Koso knockoffs to me. www.kosonorthamerica.comNow may be a good time to get better headlights and tail/brake lights. I used an LED truck/trailer light on one of my scoots and I've been very happy with it. It's really bright and, because it's mounted in a rubber grommet, I haven't had vibration related issued with it. I've used a few ATV and motorcycle LED tail/brake lights and had them fail over time or sometimes quickly when mounted directly to the frame. Same for lights. Had an LED fail in just a few rides and later put rubber washers on the mount. Something to consider if you do custom work. Anyway, here's the tail/brake light I used, but I'm sure there are other styles like round ones. www.superbrightleds.com/moreinfo/truck-oval-lamps/oval-led-truck-trailer-light-6in-led-stop-turn-tail-light-with-56-leds/557/You can find a bunch of LED turn signals looking around on eBay. Most are either mounted by a stud/nut on the back or on the side. I'm using a 27W LED spot light on one of my scoots and like it quite a bit. One issue with it is other drivers don't seem to like it, so I'm not sure how well it works out only having it unless you just don't care. I got people high beaming me and flashing their brake lights at me when I tried to use it around traffic at night with it aimed so I could see best, but I have a second light to switch to. Another option may be driving lights or a motorcycle headlight assembly. Could be beneficial in the long run to get something that has a common bulb style so you can walk into a parts store and get a good bulb anytime you need it. Also then you don't have to worry about melting stuff if you've got a good housing and automotive/motorcycle style connectors. Searching for "Harley headlight" or for driving lights should bring up quite a few options. I've been very tempted to mount a housing for an H4 on my TaoTao because the Silverstar bulb was by far the best headlight I've had on a scooter, but it could melt the stock housing so I don't use it.

Finally got some parts in and started installing. Settled for stock replacement gauge cluster and rear light. I don't like the crappy factory fit of the handle bars to the fork so I 'm going to cut and redrill it to sit lower and tighter. Bought a battery so now I can start to fab up a battery box. I need to find out where all the ground wires went that attached to the battery terminals. Those got ripped out. Replaced the mangled ignition with an extra I bought when redoing the wiring. Turn signals, head light and mirrors have all been shipped. I also started putting heat shrink on wire connections to make them water tight for being run on a naked scooter. Front fender and an air intake should be enough pieces to make it road legal and running.

How many ground wires do you have? My TaoTao just had the one large cable from batt - to the valve cover stock and then the harness got a ground on the valve cover too. Some have one wire to engine and one to harness form the batt - terminal.

I have two leads coming from a chassis ground point. One ends in a round eye connector the other went to the battery ( I assume from the length and ripped off connector like + lead from the battery).

Oh, OK. One should go to the valve cover bolt and the other to the battery - terminal I believe.
+ side of the batt is usually one big cable that goes to the starter relay and then another either tied in at the ring terminal or with it's own ring terminal that goes to a fuse and into the harness.
