Going over the RT after nearly getting run over by a couple teenagers when they decided to back up at the red light. Started slowly at first, so I blew the horn. Then they started to back up faster. Hit the front fender and bent it. I was able to beat on their back window and they stopped.
Somehow everything is alright. Motor is fine, forks, frame, transmission, brakes all check out. Fender is plastic, so I can do something with it. At least it's not scraping the wheel.
All things considered, it could have been a LOT worse. I got a small scratch and they got a Class A old man cussing about paying attention, using their mirrors, turning their music down, and staying off their damned phone when driving.

I got some goodies in the mail for my Tao TaoThunder 50.... errr Thunder 72. They had to sit around for a bit, as I am still not all that mobile after my knee infection/severe arthritis. I got this done on Sunday, and I was in pain for a few days. Got to ride it a little yesterday and today. Only had one goof on my part - didn't tighten the carb drain all the way, so I had a minor leak lol. Now I have a Thunder 81

Sounds like you need some luck. My knees are messed up after a couple of motorcycle accidents years ago. Have arthritis in them. Not fun. Get better soon.

I took advantage of another decent day today, work ended early so I took a nice scoot ride. I ended up back at Scootopia and decided to try the heat gun trick on the faded plastic glove box door. It came out so nice I took the front fairing off so I could do the inner faring but I decided it would take too much time to do it. You have to go slow or risk screwing it all up. I did pull the blinkers from the fairing and did the trim around the lenses. Before: After:

What is the heat gun trick on faded plastics oldgeek You have to go slow, otherwise it can melt the plastic.

Asbestos shingles make good heat shields, just keep them in a plastic bag between uses. I have found that hardie backer board works fairly well also.

That heat gun trick must release the oils in plastic or vinyl which renews the color. Anybody know how long the effect lasts or how many times you can do it before the plastic gets messed up?

No idea. I suspect the people that are going to take the time to restore the plastic are going to take better care of it than originally. I have also read about people using linseed oil. I wonder if there’s a combo platter to be had?
