So here we go. I got this Baccio VX 50 from a friend, picked it up for $400 with title. Already got the new title in my hand. A little about it so far. The bike runs, I haven't GPS'd the speed yet but according to the speedo, I've gotten it above 35mph. I'm 5'7 and 240lbs, it has no problem moving me really. It gets up to speed ok. I got it originally for my GF to ride back and forth to work, but decided I wanted something a little newer and in need of less work for her. So we are looking right now. But back to this. So far I'm not sure what engine is in it, I ordered a plug for what Baccio said it would need and the plug that came was entirely too small. I should have pulled the plug out first, which I'm going to do today and take a picture of it. I have a fuel filter on its way too. I topped off the gas and added some seafoam to it and filled up the oil shortly after I got it. I used Quicksilver 2T oil. So I'm hoping I'm on the right track. I have yet to take it apart for closer inspection. The guy I bought it from was the 2nd owner I believe, he said he even drove it to work and back from time to time, not exactly a short trip so I know the bike got some use. Like I said, it "seems" to run good, but I need someone who knows these things better than I do to take a look. Anyways. The body needs work as you can see in the images (If I get them to work). Through here so far I've found a TON of resources and even found a place that sells all the body panels and not at a bad price either. The first will be the handlebar assembly and maybe the glove box, as those two are in the worst shape. The right side could use a chunk replaced as well. I also noticed there's a slight bit of oil dripping from the airbox. It looks to be mixed with gas, I'm not sure. It doesn't happen when off and it's not pouring out. May be the reed valve from what I've read. I want to clean the entire engine and everything so I have a good view, but I'm going to wait first. To be honest, I can't tear it apart just yet till the GF gets her own scoot to ride back and forth with, so this may be a slow progress. So anyways, this will be the start of this thread, I'll continue along as I go. First thing I'm hoping to do is to open up the CVT cover and see how the belt and all looks, also to grab the ID of the motor while I'm at it. I'll try to keep up with the pics and keep you guys posted.

It's a long case minarelli clone. Same bike Sitticus here has. They can be very reliable. I use Lucas semi synthetic. Napa carries it. Amsoil is another good oil. It shouldn't matter on a stock scoot just throwing it out there and make sure you get oil for an oil injected motor unless you go to premix which a lot of us do.

Well I don't plan to pre-mix and I will look at Napa for the oil when the time comes that it runs out? I bought a big jug of the Quicksilver because a friend of mine has a Yamaha Enduro he's working on and said he uses that oil for it and his boat too and it works fine. I just took the CVT apart for inspection, the gasket needs to be replaced as it came half apart. I also ordered a belt for it too. I noticed the belt moves A LOT during idle but it doesn't seem to move to hit the casing, not really sure. Can't hurt to replace the belt either way. I also inspected the variator, seems to be "ok" but I want to take it apart again when it's not so hot out and do a good service on it. I'll probably wait for the new belt for that just in case. I was a little nervous keeping it open, more so that I'd be inspired to tinker. When in fact today is not a day to tinker with it lol.

When you have the variator off again check the rollers for flat spots and way them if you have a small digital scale. I've got one if you don't, I've also got belts. Don't worry about the gasket you can use a small amount of rtv sealant on it. Just let it dry completely before putting it back together or a lot of people run without one at all. There's nothing to leak in there.

I checked the rollers and they seem fine for now. I added a little graphite and made sure everything was able to move freely. I've already ordered a belt though, boo. I still would like you to take a look and listen to it someday. We should get together and talk sometime. I'm going to take it for a spin now, I'm going to run to Advanced to get a spark plug so that's my excuse to take it for a ride real quick. Since my GF has my car right now and she's up in Vero.

My scoots ass end is hanging from the garage door opener while I do a gear swap otherwise I'd come down. Maybe a little later.

Nice Baccio scoot. Love them 1e40qmb's! One of the earliest and cheapest mods I made to my VX50 that made a good difference is clutch springs. The added boost to get through intersections faster added to my enjoyment a lot! Clutch springs are only like $10 but getting your clutch off and opened up the first time can be a chore- I had to go purchase a few specialty tools etc. Once you get a few of the tools needed scoot tuning becomes easier and more enjoyable! I used the 1500 RPM yellow clutch springs- Way better take off!

I used the 1500 RPM yellow clutch springs- Way better take off! Sent from my XT603 using Tapatalk 2 I considered the springs till I started messing with the idle. Right now I just want the engine itself to get tuned and running like it should if it isn't already. I've been messing with the idle and for some reason today I had to raise the idle to get it to stay on from a cold (80 something degrees out right now) start. It was idling around 2k. I lowered it and it seemed to idle around 1,200. I just got a new plug, the new fuel filter comes in today too so i'll replace them both and if 2tDave and I manage to get together, I'll see. I was thinking of a new clutch or springs for the clutch, also thinking of putting a new variator in it as well. But I need other eyes on it that have taken these things apart. Oh and the new belt comes in a few days as well, ordered a kevlar belt since this one seemed to be a little "loose". I loved your build though, I wish I had the money to do body and engine mods all together, but for now I want it to run right before it looks pretty. But I always welcome your advice and input man. You and Sitticus are the only two I've seen with the identical scoot on here so far. Though I like his color scheme better, I will have to look into that in the future.

Thank you sir. Plenty of support here in this group. I love this place! You in good hands with 2TDave- His scoot is a perfect example of what a beast these little 2T's have the potential to be! I was bummed my Baccio build thread got cut short- there was much more that I did to my VX50 that didn't get posted... but I found another 2T Minarelli... so the quest for speed and performance continues

I'd like it to be fun / secondary transportation for me in the long run. I drive 26 miles each way to work so taking it to work now is out of the question. However if I can get the speed up without the cost of a 150cc and an endorsement, then I'll look into it. First priority is to make sure all is right on it. There's a lot of grease underneath which comes with age. I'd like to examine the clutch and look into springs/variator improvements then maybe exhaust. I'd love to put a BBK but I'm not going to touch the engine till either I know what I'm doing or someone else is willing to help me or do it without robbing me. I'll barter services if need be too. The body will be last. One of the bottom panels was broken so I removed them both, they were barely hanging on anyways. Not sure if it will affect the air/drag of the bike really. I love the size of it though for me so I figured why not mess with it in the future. I figured for $400 and a clean title, I couldn't go wrong for now.

Make sure you don't run it without the plastic shrouds around the cylinder.

Make sure you don't run it without the plastic shrouds around the cylinder. You mean the cooling/air shroud, right? Yeah I didn't go that deep. I just took the CVT cover off, fixed the brake line clip and that was it.

Yes. There's a left and right shroud.
