I had my air filter mounted under the seat, hooked it to the carb with some flexible pool hose. Just dont add chlorine to your gas. But I wanted to make sure my engine was clean and algae free! Did you or do you know anyone who's used either of those two filters? I'm tempted to order one and try it.

Now this is what I was looking for. Some testimony and direction. And yes, I'm thinking the hose will be used indeed. I'm thinking of locating the filter under the seat where the oil tank used to be. Keeps it away from direct heat from the motor and protected from the elements. The filter you saw me using I took off of one of the junk 4t's sitting in my patio. It's more of an experiment and that filter you put here may be my next move if this one doesn't hold up. It's a K&N though so even though it looks rough, it should still perform like it should. I'm thinking more and more that between sealing off a good intake head and changing my plug, going back to a #95 jet and some CVT tuning and I'll be back to that scary 50mph line again and beyond. I've got a local guy I need to bring the rims to and he'll throw the new tires on for me $15 a pop, worth it if you ask me. Once the new tires are on, then I won't be scared to push it. All I have to do is pray that there's no other leaks. Even though this damn thing on the inside looked a lot better than I thought it would.

Will the the technigas next-r work for a tao tao atm50 a1 139qmb engine Hmm. If they make one that fits your configuration I don't' see why not? I ran the bike with that pipe on it for a little while before I put the BBK and it definitely woke up the engine for a 50cc. I gained 6mph out of it easily. I don't really hear much about exhaust on 139QMB engines though so I couldn't tell ya. Maybe ask in the 4t performance section of the forum? You might get more attention and a better answer there.

So I put the #95 jet back in, new plug right out of the box so the gap isn't screwed up. I put the old needle in too, clip is in the position 1 lower than the middle, meaning the needle is sitting a little higher. Still has the 6g Dr. Pulley sliders in it, I didn't want to change too much. I also sealed the reed valve and intake with Motoseal. I put a nice even coat along the engine and reed valve, spreading it with my finger so there weren't any globs. I got some new long allen ratchet bits so I can finally tighten the intake down properly. Feels like the threads at the end were tough as hell though but I got it tight.
I ran with the pod on the air filter on and off. I've also removed the petcock and put a manual fuel shutoff inline. Right after the fuel tank. I'm not too thrilled about it because it seems like gas isn't really flowing down so well, yes the lines and carb are lower than the tank and I put about 1/4 tank of gas in it.
1st run. It climbs to 9k on takeoff, goes back down to 7k and slowly crawls to 8k. That's against the wind. With the wind I toyed with the throttle and held it at 3/4. I didn't have the GPS on there, but it was at 8k and at 3/4 throttle it went to 9k. So I did another trip and held it at 3/4 again and it went above 9k, I held it WOT and it went to almost 10k RPM. But WOT still feels goofy. It's kind of cool out today and I figured the #95 would be right. You think it still could be too rich?
I also am having a problem keeping it running at idle. I've messed with the idle speed and mixture screws, all the way out and in almost. Feels like neither direction helps. I tapped up the pod and cut open about a 1" hole to make it feel more like the stock box. For some reason it started right up, idled nice for about ten seconds, then died. I checked and the fuel line was dry at the carb. I had to tilt the bike blah blah, got gas back in it, got it started and it still dies out. I'm going to try and post a video in a bit. My neighbor is not home so I can at least run it for a few out here instead of having to drive to the other end of the city to not offend her.

Having watched 90GTVert video on lean/rich AGAIN, with headphones on and then listening to my video, I'm going to throw the #90 in there and see how she does. At least it's not dying out on me at WOT like it was. The head also feels a lot cooler than before, which is a relief because I thought the fan was bad. So maybe I am running too rich. I still want to figure out this bloody idle/start issue and may need to put the petcock back because flow from the tank doesn't seem like enough. So I put the 90 in, while I was at it I replaced part of the fuel line and the fuel filter. Seems like that cone filter wasn't letting gas flow as freely. I had a spare disc filter so I put that in. It started right up, seemed to be getting gas and all, sounded ok. Idled nice, but still a lot of white smoke at first. It stalled while I was getting it to the driveway. I started it back up, took it for a run and as soon as it hit about 8k at WOT, it started to lose power/RPM again. Even after I stopped for a few seconds, it didn't want to rev up. I would love to upload a video, but my internet connection is being an asshole tonight and this 340mb video I took earlier is not sending. So... I'm done with it again. I think I'll let it sit till I find someone else to come here and look at this thing because I'm lost again. I don't know what direction to go in and I'm not spending my weekend off getting fucking pissed at this thing again. Again. New plug, original needle and slide, needle is one step up (richer). #90 MJ, pod on or off it didn't matter it still turns to shit at WOT and won't come back from whatever is going on. Intake/Reeds are sealed with Motoseal and not leaking. The end of my pipe is wet, yet I feel like if I drop down on the jet again I'm going to be going lean. The head is a little warmer than it was before but I don't know what too hot is really. I'm only feeling the top of the shroud after it sits for a minute. So I don't know. I can't figure this out. I thought it was rich, I turned the jet down and it acts fine till it warms up then WOT it's shit. I feel like I'm really talking to myself here now. Going in circles with this thing.

I'd run the uni filter..with the 95 main... air screw 1 1/4 turns out needle middle clip If it bogs down bad at the top end lower the needle all the way..then see whats up...If it dies bad at wot stop and check to see if its not running dry
