Update - The trials and tribulations of living on the otherside of the world are endless . Here is a message I just recieved from Scootertuning.ca , about the clear radiator hose I ordered . $38.00 extra to ship 2m of hose and I already paid $17.30 . This comes after a message 10 days ago saying that they only had 1m of hose and not the 2m that I ordered , I told them I was willing to wait for more to arrive in stock . I suspect that they were trying to get out of honouring the deal from the beginning . I told them to refund my money . I've now wasted 10 days that I could have sourced the hose from elsewhere . I won't be bothering them with my business ever again . Ken

Is there a way to move that rear shock to the outside with some sort of offset adapter? Or maybe look for a rear shock that is already offset like the KN springs? I'm seriously contemplating grinding out the piece of Fender that interferes with the shock so that I can move it over to the Left and centralise it . My only reservation is that if I " Feck " with this Fender it will become worthless and I don't actually see a long term relationship occurring between us . Ken

That's weird that bracket rusting like that. The only bit that rusted on mine in five years was where the rear wheel flicked spray up. There is a small gap under where the fuel tank and bottom panel join. This is enough to let salt get onto the bar behind. Thankfully here in Northern OZ we dont have to contend with frozen roads and Salt as a consequence . I wonder that indidual part wasn't prepped or painted right at the factory ? Ken

Update - Fitted up the Carbon Hugger rear Fender to test how it is going to look and work . Two things became obvious quickly . I don't actually like the way it changes the look of the rear of the bike , and as spaz12 mentioned in an earlier post it doesnt sit centrally over the rear tyre because it has to clear the shock spring . It is a necessary evil though because I dont want things flicking up off the rear tyre onto the rear facing Carb and air cleaner , deep down I'm not super happy , it will be used for now until I can think of something better . I've also spent quite a lot of time just doing little adjustments of things which arent obvious but somehow have chewed through the hours of my day . I must admit that I probably spent 3 hours mocking up the front fairing to work out how I'll mount it . My original mounting idea has fallen out of favour because of some unforseen problems , but as often is the case the alternate idea I stumbled upon actually looks better and will definitely work better " Such is Life ' Ken

I tried replying to this earlier , but was on my phone and for some strange reason it was causing problems . I new here , but I have read every single page of this build trying to devour information and design ideas from a veteran . I'm not stupid and realise that sometimes life gets in the way of play , but I'm seriously upset that you may have to part ways with your Scoot . Ken

Thanks everyone for the likes and comments . I'm back at work for the week and so nothing happens until next weekend . Here is something though that has got me wondering . The bracket that connects the seat to the seat base was really rusted . The rest of the bike had zero rust so that puzzled me . No worries I think , I'll just use the bracket from the parts bike , well that was rusted worse than the first one . I ended up sanding and cleaning the better of the two , primed and painted it . In the pic you can still see the pitting in the metal where the rust was . Its no problem because its not a visible part of the bike but it interested me why that part and only that part on both bikes would rust . The other thing that is annoying is the fit of the new rear plastics . If you look close you will see the gap between the plastics and the taillight . Its no big problem to fix with some mucking around , time , spacers and packers , but its annoying when body panels dont line up first go . If your wondering the plastics still have their clear protective wrap on them that will removed when Im finished so they arent as clear and shiny as they will be . Ken

Update - I put the rear plastics on and parts motor in the frame yesterday to check a few measurements and clearances and couldnt resist putting the painted cover on to see how it looks . Not the best pics because the light was wrong and the reflection in the gloss paint looks like marks and scratches , but you get he idea . Ken

Update - Spent a few hours on General Grievous today. Put some rubber on the triple tree stops to protect the paint on the frame . Fuel tank is on . Spent ages working out how much of the seat base to cut out for the rear facing carb and extended sub-frame . New grips and the first hint that General Grievous might just spend some time on the street occasionally Ken PS - it seems that a lot of the suggested tyres aren't available here in OZ , but the Perelli Diablo's are one of the few mentioned that I can get , so might go in that direction .

Force them together and post a pic. Would love to see it assembled. I tend to agree with you ......... but I'd like to hear from someone who has experience before I " foof up " a perfectly good rubber intake and then have no comeback or option of returning it Ken
