I just realised that that link is for a 10 inch wheel fender . I didnt have any luck with that web site , but do they also list a 13 inch like I have ? Or am I quite lucky like the seller said in getting a 13 inch Aerox one because they are rare .

The frame is at the paint shop , and " What will be , will be " He said it will be ready a week from now , so it finally feels like the build has begun . Parts are arriving slowly and I'll introduce them to the thread as they are bolted on , but Im super happy with one in particular . I found a carbon rear fender forsale on " Gumtree " our Australian equivalent of Craigslist and couldnt let it get away . Ken

Thanks guys for the pics and explanations . I actually got it sorted before the replies , but hopefully it may help someone else who like me is doing this for the first time .
I will be delivering the frame to the painter this week and he's not sure how long it will take until he sees it himself and we decide exactly what we are going to do .. It shouldnt be more than a couple of weeks though .
The more I see of this bike ( you see everything good and bad when you pull it apart into a million pieces ) I worry about how much it has been flogged and abused . The previous owners got their money's worth out of it and I fear for the engine which was the selling point when I originally bought it .
I have decided to build my own motor ( well actually have someone who knows what they are doing build it for me ) from the motor and cases of another Aerox I own but havent picked up yet . It is about 1000km away ( 600 miles ) and I will be picking it up next month when I travel there for family business.
Reading through other build threads here it seems everyones build morphs and transitions as it goes along and it seems mine is no different . Mine may not be as extreme as some here but I do want to do it right and using beatup parts from the original bike isnt the correct course of action in my opinion . It going to cost me heaps more , but " Such is Life " .

Cool ,
Thanks for the link . Im still a bit confused as to how this works , is it two nuts with the top one locking the bottom one ? How do you turn the top one when it has the tag that sits into the bottom ones recess ?
Im confused .

Update Finally got to do some work on General Grievous today . I've had a few weekends of commitments , but today was build time . I'm slowly accumulating parts and pieces , but I won't bore everyone with those until its time to bolt them on . Totally stripped the bike down to bare frame and started removing all unwanted metalwork . I have spent many hours contemplating what to remove and what stays because it has to be right . I started by just roughly removing the unwanted lugs and steel . I ended up with quite a pile by the time I was finished ( the strange white dots are there to tell me to cut it off , no dots - no cut ). I slowly got the ugly ground down to smooth . I don't have to make it perfect because the frame is booked in with a custom spray/bodyshop and they will blast , sand and prepare it hopefully to perfection . Ken PS - I'm new to this , so this will probably sound like a dumb question , but ......... How do I remove this collar / nut on the steering stem ??

Can you tell me where you got your Gyronectic levers cylinder setup from ? Thanks , Ken PS - Love the build Certainly. And thanks. My levers, disc, and caliper are all Adelin from Aliexpress. Rims are gyronectics brand from scootertuning.ca. Cool , I feel a little bit silly now I was reading your signature line thing that lists the components and thought the Gyronectics was associated withe the brakes not the wheels On your problem of the wheel not turning with the plug in . How tight is the belt Variator setup ? You should be able to spin the wheel without the belt trying to turn the motor over . Ken

www.racing-planet.deAnd if you order this weekend it's 20% off using the code P-Rb4-Xhb-J4A They have flat rate DHL shipping too. I've ordered from them at least 3 times, first time shipping took ages, but it was right around Christmas, the others were under 10 days from Germany to my door. Am digging your build too man! I didnt realise you are in NZ , its good to know I'm not the only Scooter nut in the Antipodes . I'm not sure that the rest of the world realises how much we have to pay for shipping to fuel our Scooter habit down here . Thanks for the kind words about the build . Forgot to mention earlier that the rear end plastics arrived last week so thats one less thing to worry about . As well as a huge box containing a full plastics kit for an Aerox that was originally destined for General Grievous before it was decided to go half naked with him . These will get used on my wifes Aerox ( Blue Steel ) and will make it look a millon bucks . Ken

After some consideration and study I think I agree with the observations that its to low with the standard shock setup .
Does anyone have a suggestion or link to a longer shock that will fit the Aerox ? The standard shock is 280mm long from center to center of mounting holes , after measuring it up I need a shock that is 310mm - 320 mm , any suggestions
Ken
Edit - just found one 310mm made by Malossi , and its here in Australia , so have ordered it .

Update . Started the day replacing disc's and pads on my wife's Aerox " Blue Steel " Didn't take long even though I've never done them before Then the " General Grievous " work began . I set up the Easyboost extended subframe to make sure I had all the pieces . The instructions are in French and this non mechanic struggled for much longer than an experienced person would have , but I finally got it dialed in . I didn't order a extender block to lengthen the shock because I wanted to see how low it is without it . I will be dropping the forks as low as possible so for now I'll leave it as it is , but its good to know I can easily raise the back up if I want to , or even maybe purchase a longer shock . I've got a few other things to work out before I pull it all apart to begin the real build . Ken
